do you know how they mail out the passport?
nextday curier service? snail mail?
I applied for a passport couple of weeks ago, and I just realized that it will be mailed out on 31th... and my flight is Feb 2nd in the morning....
when I applied in person, I told them my flight is 2nd and I wanted to apply for faster processing(extra cost), they said I did not qaulify for faster service because I had planty of time....
Now i'm worried, I only have one day to get the passport...

I just got mine renewed and it was delivered the day they said it would be. They are pretty good with being on time (as long as there is no strike....).

Import send them a fax with your itinerary (flight schedule/ticket stub)

Where are you headed? Some countries (like the US) you can get in with just your drivers licence and birth certificate.
I just got mine but I went the pick up route as well and paid the extra $10. Well worth it IMO. I don't trust Can Post that much.

Just got mine in December. It arrived the exact day they said it would. I was on a pretty tight schedule as well as I had to fly out for a job interview, but they were really good about getting it to me ontime.

Their website says it takes 20 business days to process a passport. We had 30 business days before we left for Mexico.... no problem right????
My families passports arrived the days before we left.... mine arrived the day after we left
But it was only mexico, they accept birth cert. and drivers licence, so no real problem.

Can't you do it through internet now too? I remember reading that a while back on RFD.

I hope it comes on time since I'm heading to Guangzhou in early March with my parents and we're still waiting for my dad's passport. They told me it was sent either via registered mail, expresspost or something since we had to sign for it. I hope it comes on time since I need my dad's passport to get our visa's :(

Xpresspost is pretty fast, next business day usually if sent in the mornings. That's how I got mine, 1 business day from Ottawa to Vancouver.

Make sure you have people at home and wait for it.
Otherwise, the post man will leave a note and ask you to pick it up somewhere ... tomorrow.

YMMV (I personally would not take the chance - even if I was driving across the border - always bring your passport).

Never had a problem with that... I don't have a passport yet, and I've gone over the border or flown to the US tons and tons of times even after 9/11 (I am a WASP though.. sadly, it probably makes a difference sometimes)

a BC + gov't photo ID is still acceptable. you might get an extra question or two, but it should be ok.
