Hello,

I am looking for a good cheap insurance company for me.
Putting the car under one of my familly members is not an option for me so I have to be the first driver. The amount I am spending on the car I have to get 2 way insurance plus its my first year driving so chances are I'd get into an accident then not later........ (knock on wood) hope not.

Its a 1999 Civic SI. It has Sherlock and has the alarm system built in.
After playing with Belairdirect site I can get 1700$ a year with 500$ colision and 250$ Other Damages.
What other companies would you recommend?
I am 21 and I've had my liscence since 04 July. Probational with no points. Never been insured first driver before.

Thanks in advance.

I can't say I know insurance prices for Montreal specifically, but your insurance rate seems quite cheap for your status. You could talk to an insurance broker and see what they have to recommend.

Belairdirect is the WORST for first time drivers.

Try LaCapitale Insurance for a quote, you'll be surprised!

BS, belair was the best (3-4 years ago) when I was a first time driver.

Keep in mind belair gives additional discounts for being a student, discounts if our parents use belair etc etc....

I will however be switching to the one offered as Desjardins.

If you are a student I highly recomend you give them a call, they seem to have the BEST quote for students.

I've had pretty bad luck with them, so I went with another company.

thanks I never knew they give students discounts. Going to call em asap and post an update

Update:
Belair would not budge they told me the discount was already applied 1684$ a year. I can only get -100$ if I do it online.

LACapital wanted 2100$ for the same car and would not budge...

I had Allstate for a year. They were the best that I could find. When I had an accident though, my rate skyrocketed the next year.
NOW, after talking with co-workers, I go through a broker.
I am with Aviva.
PM me, and I can give you my brokers name and info. He was definately the cheapest that I could find.

I'm not sure if the rates with vary in Montreal,
but I found when I was looking Willis Canada, President's Choice and Meloche Monnex (if a university student/alumni) were all fairly comparable.
Another option to check is ING, I think.

Try Desjardins, they have really good prices usually for young drivers.

If you're a member of the APA, you might be able to get a deal with them, as they have a deal with a broker, Randle Insurance. Don't know about age restrictions, but you can check out the apa web site: www.apa.ca
