Can we post the buyers that have barked but not bit! I have had numerous potential buyers pm me wanting an item and never reply or show up.......is this considered good trading practices on RFD ????? my question is is it ok to post the buyers that have flaked out.....or is this to reveling to their actions here on RFD!!!!!  I believe this should carry the same sort of rules as ebay.......dont bid if your not going to pay!!!!!!

Usually if it's a serious buyer they will respond. Those who don't usually aren't too sure and are still thinking about it. In any case, I doubt anything can be done about it unfortunately. Just reply your messages and move on.

This isn't eBay.
People who subsribe/use this forum are not paying for any services or anything of that nature unlike eBay where the seller must pay a percentage of the total they sell an item for to eBay for their services.
Also keep in mind that nobody is bidding on anything here. Here on RedFlag it's almost hit or miss. RFD people who have good feedback and post counts are generally people who are good to deal/trade with.
Sometimes it comes down to buyer's remoarse. People tend to back out of deals because the come to a realization that the price (even though good) is not worth dishing out.

Just my 0.2 cents.
Hehe sorry my following post won't have anything to do with the thread but I like reading this thread so here goes...
LOL 0.2 cents? Even if you put 0.2 dollars that's still 20 cents. Just for Deal_Hunta's sake I'll say it:
That's his $0.02

Perhaps Futureshop can take a picture of everyone who comes through the door. Those who walk out without buying anything get their picture pasted on the wall with a humiliating caption under it.
It's really not much different from your idea.
Just because someone is interested or even decides to buy your item(s), does not mean they can't change their mind before the deal is completed. It's very rude for them to set up a meeting and not show up, but short of that, there is nothing wrong with changing their mind.
If you don't like stuff like that, just don't sell your items on RFD.

If I am no longer interested/no longer need an item, I let the seller know. I don't just stop like a few members (you know who you are)ee

As for not reply pm's or changing minds all of a sudden, that you can not do anything about as they do happen. However if you schedule a meet up and the buyer/seller doesnt show up nor give you any indication the deals off (ie pm, email, call, text message) then yes their names should be posted on the forums to let people know about their actions, this way they do not waste another members time.

I hate it when people assume I'm going to buy the item after I just inquire about it.

Instead of posting lame buyers I think it's better to post lame sellers. There's no money lost if you are a lame buyer who's just "kickin' tires".

Isn't that what heatware is for? If they make a deal and don't show/don't tell you then leave feedback.

No. According to heatware rules, feedback can be reported and removed if no goods or money have been exchanged.

A user backed out of the deal, can I still write an evaluation?
If one party backs out of the deal even after a verbal agreement has been made, NO evaluation can be given to either party. If no goods or money was exchanged, the "deal" is not eligible for evaluation. If you have received an evaluation for a "deal" that did not take place, please contact us.

geez, I hate people who tease you and say they are interested, will have the money next week and never respond, they don't say they they're not interested anymore or anything like that, they just ignore you. Once this person teased me about buying one of my items and never responded, and a few weeks later, he actually had the nerve to ask about another item I was selling! I ignored him.
BTW, there are lame sellers too, where they make an offer to do things like advertise their first offer or they never show up...etc.

Well I've had to back out of a few deals after saying I'd buy it for sure, but it was due to circumstances outside my control. Of course even then I gave them notice - there's really no excuse for not following up on PMs of interest and leaving the seller wondering if you really want it or not. It doesn't bother me too much though, as I never assume they'll buy anything and I refuse to hold items for anyone until they arrange a meet or make payment.
If they want to pickup I always arrange it at MY convenience so if they don't show up, no big deal. I did once set up a meeting in a neutral location for a hard drive and he never showed, didn't reply to my emails or when I tried calling him. Then a couple of weeks later he emailed me about another item I was selling... told him to straight to hell.

oh yes you are.
how much for this? can you ship for this much? how about #1 + #4 for $$XX amount. Wow thats a good deal, I'll take it. All kicking tires.
Then its "I cant, my mom took away my allowance."
#1- a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush - $70 today is better than $75 tomorrow.
#2 - money talks, BS walks - ask for immediate downpayment if they are serious
#3 - dont hold anything for anyone - unless they leave a nonrefundable deposit

Well said, although I've had to back out of a few deals too, but again as someone else said, it was for reasons out of my control. I always have the courtesy to let the seller know I cant get the item, or no longer need it. I know how awful it is when someone backs out of a deal, especially if they arrange a meeting time/place and dont show up, and dissappear from the face of the earth...happened to me once

Same problems like everyone else. Maybe not for those kicking tires, but definitely no shows without any warning. Those are the absolute worse. Also had a few call me 1-2 hrs after the meeting time telling me they cant make it.. nice.

Oh right. I forgot we're often dealing with folks who aren't mature enough to understand that once you make an offer, it's not kicking tires. When they grow up a little and buy a car or house they'll figure that out. Sign the offer, and it's up to the BUYER whether or not you are on the hook, you can't take it back once you've sent it.

That's the nature of the beast. Everyone is looking for a deal, be it online or at a Futureshop. How many times have you decided you wanted something then changed your mind? It would be nice and considerate for people to inform you of changes, but with the internet it's very impersonal.
