My friend just ask me if it is good to buy the laptop at Notebook Outlet (Pacific mall).
I just tell him "NO", deal with "Notebook Outlet" is kind of high risk. I have the bad experience with them and they broke my Fujitsu laptop without any reason and apology.
My another friend also have the bad experience with them as well.

I had a friend who needed some repair done to a Fujitsu Laptop as well - specifically the ac adaptor plug.
Notebook Outlet had signs saying they were an authorized repair center, and the sales guys inside confirmed this.
So they say they would do the repair, and it would cost _ _ _. Basically, each time we went to pick it up (after they had 'completed' the repair) it did not work. This carried on for a few months - I don't know the conclusion, but I'll find out and post an update.
My friend just ask me if it is good to buy the laptop at Notebook Outlet (Pacific mall).

everyone in pacific mall says they're an authorized dealer... before offering a discount if you pay cash (if you pay cash they often don't issue a proper receipt). when making a large purchase it's your responsibility to check their claims and email/phone the manufacturer. pacific mall is filled with grey market products that it's difficult to determine which is legit.
furthermore, some shops are just shells w/ business numbers. there's a huge staff turnover and no guarantees you're receiving the best service -- they might have in-house technicians and void your existing warranty. purchase from an established retailer or order directly from the manufacturer to save hassles. RMA? it should be a hassle-free & professional process.

Yes, my story was I ask them to repair my laptop and I gave them with box in order to protect my laptop.
However, after a few days when I picked up, my laptop case was broken and my box was missing. The stuff told me that he didn't know anything on this, and gave me a Fujisue number to contact. I asked them if it was the place they gave to repair and they said no. I asked them what was the point if I called them. The stuff told me that I may asked to clarm the warrantly. What a "good" answer!!
Afterward a while, I asked who was in charge and brought my laptop to fix and I asked him where was my box which supposed to protect my laptop. He didn't give me any good answer and gave me the address for the repair store.
I went the repair store and they said that when they received the laptop, it was broken already.
I went back to Notebook Outlet and asked for money back. However, they didn't say anything or even an apology. I saw there were another laptops need to repair, but they just put at the top of each other without any protection.
After this, no more deal with this store. I don't mind to give more if the service is good. But Notebook Outlet is really kind of .......

Friends and I have bought notebooks from Notebook Outlet, Pacific Notebook, and CanadaSys. Overall I found that CanadaSys was the better one. I found Notebook Outlet had good price, but the customer service wasn't that good, espeically when no one came to help me and when you see the whole window pasted with paper, you know it doesn't really look professional. Pacific notebook is ok. It's a bit more expensive than the Notebook outlet, but the 2 guys working there (gods know how long) are pretty professional and know how to do their job. CanadaSys had a lot of notebooks demos around and the customer services are really great. Their prices are pretty good too and their notebook forum is awsome espeically if you own a ASUS notebook. I dunno, but seem to specialized in ASUS notebook or something....

Avoid Notebook Depot Dundas and Church Toronto, Both me and my roomate bought our laptops there. If we paid cash, there would be no tax. It was supposed to be $1000 for the laptop and $50 for the RAM upgrade. I went to ge the money out came back and paid for the laptop and my roomate did the same and placed the order for his laptop, then he told us to get out of the store because he was closing. I had the cash in hand to pay for the RAM upgrade but he never asked for it, so I didn't give it to him. When I got home and tried out the laptop, the battery would not charge at all, the laptop needed to go in for immediate repair. The box had been clearly opened before and the sales person named Stone, must have known that it wouldn't charge properly. He called various times asking for the RAM upgrade money, he even called my roomates cell many times demanding the $50 for my RAM upgrade. My roomate got his laptop the next week and Stone continued to harras him about my purchase, and not paying for the RAM upgrade, my roomate got really mad at him and said "this is not my problem deal with the customer yourself"
I have had the laptop for about 8 months now, never paid for the RAM upgrade and I got another battery from Acer's repair centre, so I have 2 batteries now. So in the long run it was ok, but a lot of hassel.

the sales people there were stupid. they "tried" to help, but in the end, i knew more then they did, and i had to fix my own computer problems, even though i went back 3 times and it was never fixed...
screw that "$100" coupon thing...its not worth it in the end
everytime i go pass that store, i mentally curse it and hope it bankrupt very soon

I also have had some wierd transactions with them
My landlord was looking for a laptop for his son, as a cristmas gift. I found out thier prices were really good, and went there and check it out. The sale rep, didnt know some of the specs, and I showed them on Acer's web site. then he pretended that I was talking about some other brand/model number or something, eventho there was onyle one Acer available in their stock. Anyways, He offered me a 100 bucks discount if I can buy it in there days, cus of the christmas sale or something, Also offered me a free lexmark printer and a carying case. I said OK I'll come back with my landlord. 2 days after this conversation, he wasnt remembering any of the things we talked. even the specs on the Laptop "again". So decided to go and get it from Canada Computers. And I think we paid 50-80 bucks extra for the same laptop. Ever since no problem with it.

my friend had a bad experience with Pacific Notebook.
He brought his Asus in due USB port failures (warranty was over), they never called my friend back after he dropped off the thing, then my frd called back in a couple days, and they said they're ordering the part for it
then a week passed by. no words from them. then another week. no words. my friend called and asked whats going on, all they kept saying was the theyre still ordering the part. And the same thing happens after my frd have lengthy arguments with them like once a week. After like 2 months, my friend (which had no car and had to beg rides to get to PMall) finally went back to see wtf was going on, all they said was, theyre still ordering the part, my frd could rather pick up the laptop as if nothing happened or he could keep waiting, then my frd obviously jus took his laptop back and left.
When he took home the laptop, he noticed the wireless didnt work as well, which didnt happen before he took the laptop to Pacific Notebook. When he brought it to another place to get the whole thing fixed (nowhere in PMall), the technician said a wrong screw was used and basically jammed into the wireless card and wrecked it.
besides, the customer service at Pacific Notebook was horrible, all they say is sorry, we're already ordering the part and everything, and does nothing more.

Are you talking about Notebook Outlet (the one on the windowed side) or Pacific Notebooks? The one on the non-windowed side. My friend's dad is part owner for Pacific Notebooks... and as I know him hes a pretty honest guy.

I bought an asus laptop from pacific notebook. the service they have is good but they rush things a lot because they have a lot of potential customers.
Somehow, i always felt rushed when dealing with them. First thing to do is, never go on weekends becuase it's packed with people + space is limited. 2nd, don't deal with the chubby guy. I believe he's the owner/manager and he doesn't know much about laptops. the taller/thinner guy with grey hair is the guy to talk to.
Honestly, I think Pacific Notebook > notebook oulet. the two from pacific notebook are pretty professional compared to notebook outlet. Also, they are honest buisnessmen. the salesmen from notebook outlet are unprofessional, rude and don't know much. If i were you, research before your buy. ANything that comes out of the salesmens' mouths are lies to get ur money. If u want the truth without researching, you're better off talking to a technician.
lastly, from my experiences, uunless they offer amazing price or interested in a laptop that only sold there, don't buy from them to avoid hassles. Buy from big retailers for comfort, good warranty, no shaddy buisness and 30 day return policies.
lastly, i'll conclude with.. I didn't like my asus laptop too much and sold it. I didnt really chose it, i just got it because my firend told me it's good and id ont' know what to buy lol. Now i have my Apple Ibook which I really love. :)

Its good that they layout of pricing outside of store, as well as quite a # of laptops for customers to view/feel. But the thing I hate is how when you look around in the store, the staff pays ultra-close attention to you as if you are going to steal something, hated that feeling.
As for Pacific Notebook, those guys seems pro but I dislike how they don't post pricing outside.

Woah a real nice thread ;) .....i bought a Fujitsu laptop from there too, and they did have the best prices. Well anyways i ordered it with an extra battery and a lil while later they called to say that they did recieve the laptop, but not the battery. i went and picked up the laptop, and they said they will call in 2 weeks, about the battery. 2 weeks later, they didn't call, and I called them. They said they do have it in and come to pick it up. I drove back all the way from brampton, and they say they dont have it in......i was really mad, but I just left. Not untill 3 weeks after that, then called them for the 3rd time, and they got it in. had to drive back there and they did have the battery, but it took 5 weeks in total to get a battery, that they said will come in 2 weeks >:( .......i will never shop back at them.

i shopped extensively for my laptop when i was a buyer and pacific's prices weren't the best, i dunno why people go there to buy things like laptops.
maybe for parts but i can't imagine putting down $2000 at any store inside pacific.
i looked for a good month or two for my asus S5A and even walked from store to store and everythign in pacific either didn't know what an asus was or was within $10 or $20 of canada computers. I ended up buying it from filtech which was $115 less than Canada computers and i haven't had a problem since. Guys there were really good and service was prompt

i know the manager there. truth is, i dont really like their employees. they are kind of cocky. i wonder what kind of commission they get.
my advice is. when buying a laptop. go in the store and look at a few models that you like (see if you like the size), then do research online (find 3rd party reviews) and research on price. Then buy it from them.
Their inventory is legit, i know they are authorized dealer of acer. they are listed on the acer site. Chances are all these laptop stores buy their inventory from the same wholesaler. But i think notebookoutlet has specials ties with the wholesaler giving them a little edge over the other competitors. at least for acer.
as for repairs, i think they outsource it (dunno it is authorized or not, probably not) best thing to do when you need repairs is send it in for RMA.

After much frustration, I want to warn all laptop buyers to shop at your own RISK at NOTEBOOK OUTLET in Pacific mall  . I bought an Acer laptop with warranty, this "Andrew" guy claimed that the warranty they are selling you covers full protection warranty such as physical damages at a standard warranty price $169.99. After I realize I got std warranty from Acer, I request "Notebook Outlet" to fix the problem. They insist that they didn't make a mistake and it's my problem and gave A LOT OF attitude, and ask me to pay another $100 to change it if I want it. Be careful as these people backfire on their words, even the store owner is not that dependable!
If you actually look around, Canada computers offer their Acer laptop customer at $129/$239 for 3 years std/full protection warranty, similar pricing to ACER website. You would think that warranty pricing are std option, WRONG, these Notebook Outlet guys make money on top of these options. I don't care if they make money as long as they provide good service, but NOTEBOOK OUTLET DOES NOT PROVIDE GOOD SERVICE!
There are other references to poor shopping experience from other RFDers about Notebook Outlet.

I didn't know they are that horrid until I look them up online!
They are fishy and full of attitude, advise your friends and family to shop with caution, I would say save the hassle and buy elsewhere even if you have to pay a little bit more. The laptop that I bought is legit, but I would question all the accessories or their $100 coupon that they were offering.
PLEASE REPLY TO GET THE WORD OUT! I don't want another buyer get screwed over and wasted their time to deal with all the unnecessary hassle!

I have had the laptop for about 8 months now, never paid for the RAM upgrade and I got another battery from Acer's repair centre, so I have 2 batteries now. So in the long run it was ok, but a lot of hassel.
So in the end, he may have intentionally or negligently defrauded you in knowing that the battery was dead, or it could have been purely an honest mistake. His point is arguable unless you have definitive proof that he intended to sell you that laptop with a non-working battery. He may have just opened the box to check that everything was in there.
However, you knowingly and intentionally committed the act of Fraud under s. 380 (1) of the Criminal Code by falsehood defrauding a person of any property, money or valuable security or any service. Wherein falsehood means that you promise to pay cash for the purchase of an item without any intention of honouring the promise. You can't say you had any intention to pay him back if till this day you still haven't given you say he called numerous times, going so far as to call your friend, even if initially you had the cash out intending to pay if he asked.
Then you so boldly as to come on RFD and post it for the world to see, hmmmm ... not too smart.
