DVD-Rom drives disappears Help!!

yup. he disappears once or twice a week. Well actually its either my dvd burner or my dvd-rom. they take turns. Can someone point me in the direction of fixing this ****. I have no idea what the problem is. When they disappear they still have power ( i can open.close tray and lights flash) but they are not in "My computer" or in device manger. And yes all cables are connected. Worked fine for a year. Just started happening recently

do you have any ubisoft games installed?

there is some program they install with newer games called starforce. it can cause you to be unable to access cd/dvd/virtual drives

Last game installed was divine divinity and to tell u the truth. i first noticed the problem after this game was installed (could be coincidence) The protection that game uses is safedisc
