ok I know that the LGA775 uses the new form of powersupply so I now have 2 spare ones kicking around from older Athlon XP builds so my question is this
do all PCI-E mobo for socket 939 require the new PSU like the LGA775 does?
if not which PCI-E 939 boards still use the old Athlon XP standard?
Thanks

you can still use a 20 pin with a 24pin motherboard connection, as long as you don't have a video card which will draw power solely from the slot and is somewhat power hungry, like the 6600GT.
There are converters as well, fairly cheap (under $10).
Some AGP boards will be 20pin, as the extra 4 pins are for PCI-E power.

Just to add to the above post, you can use a 20pin psu in a 24pin mobo provided you have a 20 to 24 pin adapter. Make sure it's 20 to 24pin, and not the other way around as those exists too.

thanks guys.
so basically what I am gathering is that if I get a card that draws power through a molex for example, the 20-24 pin adapter should work fine for me?
