I got an used iNSPiRON 9300 off the buy&sell section.. after a few days of usage the I key on the keyboard broke off. So I waited 5 days for the ownership transfer so that I could call warrenty service and see what they can do about it. I called DeLL yesterday at 10a.m; the lady was super helpful and friendly, she asked me what's wrong with my laptop and I told her the I key broke off. She then walk'd me step by step to see if she was to send a replacement keyboard, can I get the old one off (apprently sometimes the screws are bolt'd onto the laptop, in that case I would have to drop off the laptop at the service depot, gladly that wasn't the issue in my case) anyways back onto topic. I called at 10.am yesterday and she said I would get a new keyboard in 2 business days. My brand new keyboard arrived today! @ 12:37pm, all I can is WOW, I didn't know yesterday when I placed the call counts as a business day. I have never bought anything from Dell before except this laptop. I think I will starting from now :)

Now you can use your new keyboard to search the yellowpages for a good criminal lawyer! :D

I'm glad you got good service from Dell. You are lucky.

The one time that I called them, my call was outsourced to India and the guy could hardly speak English.

I have a Latitude D610, which has both a touchpad and a pointer stick. Naturally, I disabled the touchpad - it's god's own evil. But the pointer stick was faulty - it made my cursor stick to the bottom-left corner of the screen.

Dell's solution for me was "use the touchpad instead". And that's after I explicitely told them that I didn't want to have anything to do with that $hitty device.

Needless to say, I do not rely on those 1diots anymore. I bought myself a new keyboard from eBay, so I'm gonna have to fix this problem at my own cost.

Dell = $HIT

And I have the 3-year CompleteCare Next Business Day Onsite Warranty. I guess that's as far as they care...

You should buy a lottery ticket today, as you are one lucky person. Most people have bad to horrible experiances with Dell and their support. I had to place 14 calls to Dell and eventually write a letter to the consumer advocate in the newspaper after them after they charged my credit card eroneously 1 year after I bought a computer. What a freakin hassle. After 5 calls of them telling me it was my fault, eventually they admitted it was their fault, but they couldn't find anyone in the company to fix it for months and months.

Dell does good on their prices, but they make up for it in customer support.

Isn't that true of all companies that have the best prices?

I had the same warranty when I had my 600m and I never had bad support. Anything I needed replaced would be replaced. I even called them to get replacement rubber feet for the laptop because one was missing so the laptop couldn't sit properly, and I received a few within two days. I had to replace the hard drive, display and part of the chassis before as well. A word of advice, don't let a little cousin play around with your laptop unattended. ;)

And when I worked in the IT dept of a company this summer, I had to call Dell on a daily basis for service/parts. They had a service contract with Dell similar to CompleteCare and we always had good service. Either a tech or the part would be there the next day provided we called before 4:30PM.
