Relax, read the questions carefully. If you have any sort of financial background you will do fine, it is an easy exam.

I took CSC Exam 1 a few months back. If you're cramming, I'd strongly recommend you focus on the Equity securities, fixed income & Cdn Economy....that's about 60% of the content on the exam.... and make sure you know it by heart...b/c they do ask detail questions. If you still have a bit of time cover the Derivatives section.
BTW I passed Exam 1. :cheesygri

Do you guys have any useful sites for CSC resources? I am looking for sample questions if possible.
Thanks

The only suggestion i have is to login into the CSC website and do the pre-test, post-test, quizzes that the CSI has given you. If you can handle those questions, then you should be ready for the Exam.

I just started to study for my CSC course, looking to finish the entire course in 3 months time.
Anyone in the GTA area doing the same thing?
I'm located in Thornhill/Richmond Hill/Markham, Ontario.
Msg me and we can maybe start a study group.

A simple yes doesn't even begin to distinguish the difference between the CSC and the first level CFA. It's like night and day.
Are you planning on doing the CFA?

High School students pass the CSC... the CFA is a challenge for even the top university grads...

i am just wondering why everyone is doing CFA these days
among the 3 levels of CFA exams, which one is the hardest? i guess in terms of difficulty, it's like CFA3>CFA2>CFA1>CSC, am i correct?

the CSC is basically an introduction course to Finance... basically if you know Economics and some ACcounting, you can pass this test.
CFA... forget about it.. it's one of the hardest around.

there was a thread which detailed the differences between the two. search for it.
csc is like a first year univ econ course. CFA is much, MUCH tougher.

used to be 500. they bumped it up a year/year and a half ago.
ideally you would want to get your employer to pay for it. if you're not working, then yes it is painful.

CSC is a licencing test. Think of it as a drivers written exam. CFA is more akin to a pilot's exam. CFA is almost at the levels of other professional designation exams. You have your CGA, CA, CMA, and CFA. Although depending on you field, other accounting designations may be more flexible than a CFA.

I beg to differ. CFA is not almost at the levels of the other professional designations exams. CGA and CMA are much easier than the CFA.

So is the CSC worth it then? I've heard so many mixed reviews...
I'll be 3rd year uni now, so I'm thinking of doing it in the summer......

The CSC level 1 is really easy. I just took it on Wednesday and I got an 82% on it. I wonder if the 2nd exam is as easy. They say that the pass rate for the CSC level 1 is only 30%, which I really don't see how it's possible. The exam was very easy.

30%? I think you're mixing up the first CSC test with CFA 1

No way there's only a 30% pass rate. Deals1 is right, you may be confusing it with the CFA. Pass rate for that is much, much lower.

I find the CSC test had very little ratio questions and margin calculation. You can probably skim through those two areas, but don't skip it all together. I purchased the CSC Check module to help me out on reviewing the materials, well worth the price.
G/L on your exam.

are there a lot of calculation type of question? (ie. need to memorize formula?). Also is this exam pretty much useless unless my only goal is to work in a bank?
