Hello...I had one of these from CT.It worked very well the first day.The problem is the motor would start to run and not shut off.You had to unplug it to stop it.The gears are also made of plastic and within the short time I used it you could see it was starting to fray/strip.I took a look on the internet and noticed people saying similiar things. When it works it's great but quality is not it's hallmark. They seem to break down easily and have problems that show up when relatively new.I phoned customer service and all they do is give you a address in New York to send it to for a replacement. They don't take your name or ask any questions. No technical help whatsoever.I returned ours and picked up a blender from costco for $39.It's a bit bulkier but has all metal gears and seems to be much better in terms of quality and should last much longer

Are you sure you are talking about the same thing ? My wife seems to rave about it... she said the power is awesome, make great milkshakes and easy to clean

i haven't received the flyer as of yet... can anyone let me know when the sale starts?? i might drop by to see if i can get one.... not willing to fight for it first thing in the morning though... lol

i dunno... seems like there is some sort of craze for it... i've seen the infomercials ever since it first came out... i've been interested in getting one... probably not for daily food processing, but more like quick snacks... so hopefully i'll be able to get one.. and it doens't have as many problems....

thanx for the info!

It's the same for sure.It seems it's a crap shoot whether you get a good one or not.Do a google search and read the reviews. If it works it's great but it's long term reliability is suspect.Plastic gears and a high reving motor can lead to disaster.I wish it continued to work because for the short time it worked for me I thought it was great.

Its funny theres alot of talk about the infomercial on this thing where the chick asks hows it going after it shuts off figuring he's finished. He looks at her for a sec, then with M-B inhand he reaches under the counter top and seems to swap for a new one and continues blending lol. I think its a product made by spishack, who also make home electro-shock treatment kits for the mildly depressed!

this is really hot.
my boyfriend bought me one for christmas from home hardware and paid over $140

as for the performance...it's good...really powerful.
but, you have to be careful...if you are careful you liquify things.

the book says you have to use a "pulse" technique.

it worked wonders on chopping cloves of garlic and onions. also was really good at mixing frozen drinks.

I've had a MB for a year, and I've never had any problems with it. The fact that it doesn't turn off unless you unplug it is a defect, ie. return it because that's not how it operates. Unless you're confusing it with the 'locking' feature, where you can lock the blending cup under the lip of the base so you don't have to hold it down. Mine has never continued to run after I let the cup go though, unless it's locked (which requires a bit of a turn).

I've never noticed any fraying either on the seals or whatever either. True, the mounting gear is plastic, but it's pretty powerful and easy as pie to cleanup. I use it everyday for smoothies, blending, baking, etc.

And for $60, might as well try it out and return it if you don't like it. I would jump all over it for $60. Just my two cents though.

$140 sounds way too high since other places like linens & things sells this for $79.99. Have a look at his receipt.

I think either Kitchen Stuff Plus or Home Essentials had one for $39-49. Not MB but same design and set of attachments. My local Loblaws is selling another one for $55.

Well, the thing does say right on it not to run for longer than a minute at a time

I use mine in short bursts, so far just for crushing ice and grinding coffee.

And home outfitters has some other version (can't remember the name, but it gave me the giggles) for 40

These things are great. i just made some salsa and added the .99 cent Jacob panties to spice it up. it turned everything into a puree (as it does to anything you throw in there)

lesson learned. everything, and i mean everything that's been on an a tv infomercial and has been labeled 'as seen on tv" is pure crap - the puree kind that spits out at high velocity - ya, you know what i'm takin bout.

must've been the "miricle bullet," that i saw at zellers too  i bet you it is the same item, rebranded... just like the knife set infomercials where they throw a different handle on the thing and its a new knife set that is razor sharp, and you never have to sharpen them EVER... too bad they recycle the whole schtick too so instead of a fat guy reading the words and following the script, you have a old balding guy

Also, people on this forum could also arrange to just buy the 2-for-1 deal from the infomercial and then just split them up.

It may not be the same... there are several variations of this thing made by different companies that all look and work the exact same... the "brand name" (the one on TV) is the "Magic Bullet", but there are other knocks-offs with simmilar but different names that may or may not be the same build quality (maybe better? who knows).

I have the original and all I can say is I love it, I use it ever morning to grid my coffee, and routinely make shakes and smoothies in the party mugs - very handy not having to dirty a great big blender for one cup. The thing is also powerful enough to grind up a ton of ice and mix to make a great mixer in the full size blender attachment.

The juicer attachment sucks though. But I didn't buy it for that.

I have the true Magic Bullet, bought from CT when originally released to CT to sell. Paid $99 for it at the time (over 1 year ago).

It still works, but I agree that it IS a piece of crap. The plastic does strip away (even with proper usage). When you try to dice an onion, you have to chop it up in pieces first, then you either get uneven "chunks" with your dicings, or you get puree of onion if you it spinning too often or too long. I tried grating parmesean, same thing. Large chunks still remain. I tried using all the accessories including the blender/food processor thing... horrible. This thing doesn't work well at all. About the only thing I've been satisfied with in terms of its performance is mixing drinks. It can get a bit messy and even though everything is dishwasher-compatible, you'll undoubtedly have to rinse or hand wash if you want to use the blade for more than one type of food/job. I'm not usually a sucker for these kinds of things, and I did my best to prove to my wife that it was a worthy investment... I lost that battle. Buy a blender with metal gears. Does the same job, more effectively and still cheaper.

Just my experience... but buyer beware, it seems I'm not alone on this sentiment...

These were recalled by the manufacturer (saw a sign at Canadian Tire sometime last year). But if they got the problems sorted out, then this is a good deal.

Yeah, that's pretty well my point. It's great for EXACTLY the functions you describe. It's too bad it doesn't do all the other meal prep things it claims in addition to purees, smoothies, and ice-crushing. Glad it worked out for you!

Yep when they made their "debut" at CT for like $50 i think it was. I checked it out and they all had to be recalled.

Not good for a product on its first day haha. But i guess the infomercials paid off. Looks like crap too.

lots are available throughout the London stores. Took a close look at one today, decided it looked to cheaply built to pick up for $60.00 (Could get a metal-geared full size blender for that price, and a plastic-geared full size blender for less than half)

Never heard of this. Looks cheap and I don't like products that claim to have million features. So this replaces like blender, processor, juicer and chefs knife?
