Great specs and price on that laptop, and the video card is pretty good as well (128MB of dedicated video memory).

Excellent choice, in my opinion, if you're looking for a desktop replacement. If you want something with long battery life, or something lightweight, this probably isn't your best choice.

Agreed. I had one of the older models (same chasis, different specs) it was HEAVY. and i mean HEAVY.

An extra $300, a slower processor for non-multithreaded applications, less RAM, a smaller (but faster) hard drive, no expresscard slot, and a less rugged chasis.

If they were the same price, then the Gateway might be a better buy, but my experience with that chasis isn't good. The processor might be future proof, but the chasis certainly isn't.
