It's only January but that isn't stoppping Dell. Starting January 10th, they're holding their Dell's 9 Business Days of Deals (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/stat?id=CAqD7bLWUPI&offerid=55419.10000067&type=3) on software and peripherials. Every business day, probably around 8:00 AM EST, they'll have a new deal with big savings on on products like flat panel monitors, external storage devices, memory products, Dell servers, and more for one day only. Some items may be limited quantity so be sure to check it out early.

So day 1 was miscellaneous peripherials, what would people like to see on day 2? Any must have's for the new year?

Day 2 (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/stat?id=CAqD7bLWUPI&offerid=55419.10000067&type=3)
- Dell E176FP 17-inch Flat Panel Color Display - $249
- Dell E196FP 19-inch Flat Panel LCD Monitor - $299
- Dell UltraSharp 1704FPT 17-inch Flat Panel LCD Monitor with Height Adjustable Stand - $299

The 19" has some very nice specs with 8ms response time and a 500:1 contrast ratio. Excellent for the price.

Click here for the deals. (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/stat?id=CAqD7bLWUPI&offerid=55419.10000067&type=3)

These don't seem like great deals to me. Sure, they're a lot cheaper than Dell's regular price, but take a look at Canada Computers price range on 17" monitors... http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProdList&cmd=pl&id=MT.899

I was debating the same question, 19" or 17" with dvi. I was wondering what the main difference was till I read this

analog vs Digital (http://ecoustics-cnet.com.com/4520-3174_7-5136369.html?part=ecoustics-cnet)

I'm more leaning towards the 19" now.

The E196FP uses the same TN panel as the E193FP.
For me, I will pick up 1905FP (on sale for $369 in last day deals) if not much to gaming and go for 2005FPW (for $499 in last day deals) at least if serous about gaming.

bold

CRTs rarely provide support for digital signals; DVI support is found primarily on LCDs. However, the advantage of digital signals for LCDs is of somewhat less importance now than it was a few years ago. Analog signal processing has improved to the point where major differences in image quality can be difficult to detect. Unless you're a pro photographer, a prepress professional, or someone else who needs superprecise, top-notch image quality, you should be fine using a CRT or an LCD on an analog signal.

Most of the Dell LCD's use Samsung panels, with the exception of the 2001FP and the 2005FPW which use LG\Philips panels.

As long is it hasn't shipped yet... during these promos it takes a few days to get the order through processing.
If it has shipped they may say you'll have to pay for return shipping and 15% restocking fee, but you should be able to waive that, especially if you're a repeat customer.

Taile found a 17" Optiquest Q7b that has better specs at lower price of $227.67 at Staples.
IMO, you better buy that 17" instead of this Dell E176FP: better price, better monitor, better return policy, better brand (if I had to pick between these 2 value lines) and more OOS.

They won't refund it after it's been shipped. Also, if it does go on (i'm betting it will), it will be lower than $599. I got mine almost a year ago for that price.

for a 19" 16:10 Viewsonic at Staples, it's only $429 minus stackable coupons.
the Viewsonic has a lower response time (8ms) and a little lower resolution... i'd rather save the $100+ and get a slightly smaller monitor.

That viewsonic 19" has low viewing angles though since it uses a TN+Film panel.

I'm still waiting for a 19/20" widescreen VA/IPS panel with TRUE 16ms (or better) response times.

The only panel right now that might come close is the Belinea 102035W. Too bad there aren't any professional reviews (with response time graphs) and it's not available here in North America :(

Because there is less viewing space, as a 19" ws has the height of a 17" FS. If you don't watch movies on your panel, you may prefer 4:3.
