How can you you tell it's unlocked by the frequency it uses?

You cannot tell if it is unlocked by the frequency. You would have to put a SIM from another provider to see if it is unlocked. This phone comes locked by Fido.
Also without 850 it is not truly a world phone.

It's not a world phone, but it can be used in most of the places around the world since 850/1900 are mostly used in North America.

I meant once the phone is unlocked you can use it any where in the world.
It is a tri band phone, with 1 north amercian frequency (GSM 1900) and 2 asian/europe frequncies (1800 and 900 MHz).

1. $70 worth of airtime on this account when activated?
2. is there carry over, to next month with unused minutes?
3. whats the expiry on the initial $70 airtime? could it say last a year?

u first get $50 of airtime with in 24 hours of activation (usually its 15cents a minute good for 60 days)
you have to purchase another prepaid card within the 60 days for any remaining money to carry over.
the $20 referral will be applied in 90 days of activation. it just adds to ur current airtime balance and does not extend ur expire date.

Yes, but you have to pay $59.99 + tax for the phone. After activating the phone, you can use it until it runs out of free airtime.
Another option is to sell the Fido sim card without activating the phone.

Sweet thanks. So that means that after the $20 credit I get on my line, I would be paying $39 + the airtime.

Remember to refill your account before they expire or you will lose all the minutes/money you've saved up.
I forgot to do mine yesterday and I lost $70 in minutes! :(

Damn, I just bought this phone at the Fido store for $80. I just needed a sim card but with the free airtime the phone is still practically free... I wish we had London Drugs here in ON :(
BTW A65 is now discontinued (according to clerk @ Fido store) which explains the low price.

Good to hear.I think I have done it about 3 times in 2 years. I'm sure they keep track so you can't do it to often and you have to do it within a day or so of expiry.I always got the full amount back but I always have a low balance. It is just good PR for Fido..

i believe fido has recently implemeneted automatic renewal on a credit card. so you don't have to remember.
