View Full Version : Toronto's 2nd Shooting. - Birchmount and Finch

It seems like this hasn't been posted/discussed yet. None the less, I'm very disgusted, with the earlier AK47 report and the shooting on the 1st, now this.
Another Ambush
It’s happened again – another dangerous discharge of a weapon in the city.
Gunfire erupted at Birchmount Road and Glendower Circuit south of Finch on Thursday, as police raced to the area just after the noon hour.
One man was hit before being picked up in a car and driven to Scarborough Grace Hospital just three blocks away.
He was later transferred to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, where his condition is said to be serious.
Police immediately closed off the crime scene and set-up a command post to try and trace the shooter and find witnesses.
There’s no word yet on a motive or a suspect description.
It’s the second time in 2006 the sound of ricocheting bullets has echoed through Toronto’s streets.
Less than six hours into the New Year, 21-year-old Dillan Anderson was found shot to death in his car at Eglinton and Locksley Ave.
No arrests have been made yet in that case.
It was the first murder of the year, and followed one of the worst periods for gun slayings in the city’s history. There were 52 killing at the end of a firearm in 2005 – the last one the most notorious of all, the Boxing Day shooting that killed 15-year-old Jane Creba.
Ironically, this latest shooting comes on the same day Premier Dalton McGuinty outlined his plan to reduce gunplay in the city, and the federal Conservatives announced their own program to crackdown on crime.

i used to live in that area. Glendower is known for these things. there's always a fire truck at the apartment building down there. usually because there is a fire going on down there. very ghetto area. if u walk around there, be careful.

I'd be scared if that happens... it seems like I'm in the middle of the bad area, where my area is sort of "ok" at McCowan/Finch. Anything beyond Birchmount on the West side and beyond Markham road on the East side is getting really bad.

Haha yeah Homer, our school is gonna get hit up by one of these shootings soon, and you know it.
I'm pretty sickened by what's been happening lately, start profiling officers, if the pants are lower than their ass, SEARCH EM FOR WEAPONS!

I used to live at Finch and Keele and worked at Jane and Finch for about 18 months. Any time something happened at Jane & Finch, I'd usually think "Driftwood". I was usually right.

i lived at that building at birchmount and finch. The parking lot in the back used to be a big dealer area and there where cops there every night.
One time I heard yelling out my window, I look out and there are about 200 youths running down birchmount disappearing over backyard fences, then about 10 cop cars go flying by! Crazy!
From the outside it looks dangerous, but I think for people living there, you sorta get used to it and people keep to themselves.

Unless you're being sarcastic, the 18 Buddhas are the gang that used to run my area and they were pretty large a couple of years ago. After the police sorta broke them up by arresting a lot of people, most of em migrated to the Jane and Finch boys. Unfortunately, I don't think many of the recent shootings are by 18 Buddhas/JnF Boys.

Not that it would have made a difference, there are no cops patrolling around our school's area. We have/had one rent a cop in our school, and a hall monitor, then a couple rent a cops in the mall accross from it, but what are they gonna do? Whistle and tell them to stop?
Our school is known for lots of trouble. Unfortunately. We're also known for our strong maths and sciences!

We're NEVER going to have a football team thanks to the first principal who only agreed to take the position if we never had a football team. Damn him.

happened 2 summers ago i think . right ? it was a house party in glendower that got out of hand . there was people running everywhere that night .
glendower has always been a not so good area , there are other areas in scarbrough that are worses or getting there but in the past couple years birchmount finch is just getting taken over by crime .
for the dude who talked about mcowan and finch . its a alright area but even that areas had some bad past the buildings next to campbell as well as the towne houses around woodside have always had some sort of muggings or fights around it .

It's a great idea. The cops excuse can be "His pants were low, so I assumed they were being weighed down by firearms."

Damn; I keep hoping for the day when I can return to the Malvern area as a tourist and actually enjoy myself in the area rather then fearing for a stray gunshot.
In fact, I hope for all of the Finch Ave. Corridor, from Morningside Road all the way west to past Highway 400 to be safer soon.

Then what Asian gang is notorious at the moment?
Asian street gangs right now are on the down low. IF you go to Alexandra Park Housing Projects near Spadina/Dundas, you won't find too many of the "Asian Assassins Gang" because many have been arrested for armed robberies, drug sells, public fighting, etc etc. I don't want to get into details of what active people do with their business because in turn, its none of my business. I think things have cooled down in Alexandra Park for the last few years now though.
Other places like Regent Park have Chin Pacc, Wilson and Dufferin has guys who chill infront of Hong Kong Billiard, there are Jane and Finch Vietnamese and Filipino crews, Scarbourough etc etc.
Everything seems calm regarding Asian gangs though. Maybe they are becoming smarter now and focusing less on obvious violence in order to make money??? Not saying violence doesn't happen between Asian gangs though, it still does happen.
My friend for example was at the Scarborough Town Centre last year and saw a huge group of Filipino's and another group of Asian guys brawling right in the mall with sticks, knives, fist, feet and anything they got their hands on. Security was way out numbered.
