........ I was thinking the 24hr bump is really tight, compared to once every 48 hrs....but that also seems to keep the forums clean. And one more thing, the fact that a memeber can actually post a reply for everyone to see isn't a good idea on the BST forums. I think members should only communicate thru pms for the BST forum....guess it's up to the memeber to make that decision, posting ur price for everyone to see doesn't seem extremely smart.
Thanks for reading

I for one appreciate the fact people can reply to someones thread in the bst. it helps keep down on scammers etc mainly, and it can be beneficial for other reasons as well. The main problem used to be thread crapping, but the mods here do a fairly effective job on cracking down on those.

If you take away the ability to reply to posts, it just lets the scammers get away with anything they want. I've stopped reading a couple forums completely because of that reason. People will post up xs-cargo stuff and sell it to unsuspecting people for twice the price. The common defence of this is 'let the buyer beware' and 'people should always do their research first'. Perhaps we should target the scammers instead of unsuspecting buyers. It is, after all, redflagDEALS.

I think it depends on the post. If it's something along the lines of "be careful ... something's fishy about this guy .." then it's not really considered a thread crap vs. "Your price is way too high! Good luck finding a buyer for your crap!"

RFD is definitely different than Howardforums. Their moderators are like fascists and understandably so with the kind of members they have in their Lounge. We have a more liberal and open discussion but there...it's like ban heaven for anything controversial. At least Ryan and Rehan wait and see instead of just banning and locking threads.

I hope to god RFD never goes the route of prohibiting replies to others BST threads. There's another site I used to visit on a regular basis, they did the same thing, so I left that site and haven't returned.
That is a horrible, horrible way to run a BST forum. I want to read replies about an item before I consider buying it.
If there are 20 replies for a FS thread and everyone is saying good things about the item, then I know I can safely buy it.
