Need help with the new TREND wireless network

I set up the wireless network and it works OK.( I used WPA) But when I installed the USB adaptor for the desktop, I could only see 3 tabs (instead of 7 as mentioned in the manual) when click the icon, they are "status", "statistics", and "about". Do you guys have the same problem, or I made some stupid mistake?

Another strange problem.

I used to share wireless network with a friend nearby. When my laptop is connected with his network, the singal is low, and the speed is 11M. When connected to my new TREND network, the singal is Excellent, and the speed is 54M. But I noticed the speed to surf online is lower when connected to my own network.
