I'm thinking of investing in a new notebook and would like to know which one is better in terms of speed and wireless capabilities. Thanks.

Pentium M = Centrino

no the pentium m is only a part of the centrino

it also includes a intel wireless card + an 855 or 915 series mobo along with the pentium m to be considered a centrino system

Pentium M = CPU
Centrino = system platform

The Centrino platform requires a Pentium M as its CPU.
