Hi everyone, title pretty much says it all, I'm trying to find out which chipsets are the best and fastest for USB2.0 and the best and fastest for IEEE-1394A/B aka Firewire-800 which runs at 800Mbits/s (twice the speed of USB2.0). I prefer a combo card so that I can have all the ports from 1 PCI card. Over a year ago I was told the NEC chipset was the best for USB2.0. So someone help me out with this.
This card here is exactly what I'm looking for:

Thanks
BTW Where can I look for benchmarks or comparison tests of different cards?

TI (Texas Instruments) chipsets are the best for firewire.
USB2.0 it doesn't really matter, I think they're all more or less about the same. But if you have to choose one, VIA is pretty good.

I like Nec for usb 2.0 chipsets because most of the cards would be Mac-compatible.
For 1394, I'd go with Texas as well.

Thanks guys, so at the moment I'll look for NEC/VIA usb2.0 and Texas Instruments for 1394A. Does TI make Firewire-800 (IEEE-1394B)? What would you guys recommend for a combo card btw? I prefer USB2.0 and Firewire-800 on one card if you know of anyone that makes that?

The last time I shopped for one, VIA sucked and NEC was on top.

Just picky anything... unless you're planning to do something professional with it, you won't really see any real improvements over one brand from another.
