Hi, could someone recommend good DVD burning software and a program that would play DVD's. Thanks
I'd like something simple to use. Just got a DVD burner and i have no clue how to use it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you mean backup commercial DVD's to a single layer DVD writable, then you need something like DVD Shrink + Nero. Or DVD Decrypter to rip to your hard drive, DVD Shrink or Shrinkto5 to make it fit a standard single layer DVD (4.7GB max, ~4.37GB usable), and Nero to write it. DVD Shrink can also use the Nero engine to write.

Since Windows XP/media Player does not support DVD playing you need to pay for a third party program like WinDVD or PowerDVD both of which are quite good. The Nero burning suite also includes a player. Nero (or any other legal commercial software for that matter) will not rip the video files from a disk so as mentioned you need something like DVD Decryptor to do this and then Nero or whatever to burn the files from your harddrive. It's a two step process.

If a DVD came with your DVD burner you should check to see if any programs came with it on a CD. Often trial or limited versions of some of the above mentioned programs are included.

Your dvd burner didn't come with a cd containing Nero Express and Powerdvd 5 already?
