i'm sticking with reliable electronics retailers. Homeshow may be a good place to find appliances but you guys have short-term memory loss: contact them to ensure you're not misled.

you thought The Brick was scraping the bottom of the barrel --> RFD'ers Pissed at Homeshow's Summer Promo (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=188495&highlight=homeshow)

Both Homeshow and The Brick (same company) are one of the worst retailers out there. They never have any of the firniture in stock. They then give you a bogus delivery date which means squat. I order a 3 piece leather sofa set from them ($2500) and cancelled when I saw their business practice. I recommend everyone avoid those places.. One the other hand Leon's has always been great and delivered eveything on time, etc...

Dec 25th, 2005, 12:37 AM
From browsing their site, it looks like you need to buy a membership for 29.95 to purchase from them. (Not sure if this applies to boxing day purchases, but I would expect it to) Read more about it here (http://www.homeshowcanada.com/clubcard.html).

It kind of looks like the electrohome logo on the 15" tv.

that's ok, i have an american express, and there's a thread somewhere that says that you can get 2 years membership for free if you have an american express. any body know the brand of the tv?

ahhhh... booo, i just checked the coupon and it expires on dec.24th. :( oh well still a good deal for the lcd even if you have to buy the membership(which i don't think you need to for the boxing day deal)

Dec 25th, 2005, 01:03 AM
Unless I am mistaken, you have to have a membership card to shop at Homeshow. $29 for a year.

Yep, don't hold your breath on these so called deals.

If it sounds too good to be true like the LCD TV .......

The Brick/Home Show Canada ranks at or near the top of the list for BS marketing. The inventors of don't pay until 2099 or whatever but charging crazy interest and application fees.

Go somewhere else to get real "buyable" deals than here.

Arrived at 4:30, met some nice people, got my 15" tv, went home :D

EDIT: Well, just tested the monitor/tv out. For 100, this is definitely an amazing deal for the quality of picture. The viewing angle is great and the screen is very versatile. The lower stand can be removed and the monitor mounted on the wall, as well as the built in speakers are clear and loud enough to hear well, given the distance you would sit from it.

I arrived at the mississauga (winston churchill/dundas) location at around 4:30 and was said to be number 18. Luckily though, apparently a few people in front of me were either multiple members of the same family, or chose to reserve something other than the tv. I ended up being number 13. Two guys who arrived about 4:45 ended up receiving tvs 14 and 15. One of the guys in line said that he had just arrived from the vaughan location, where there were already at least 50 people waiting at 4:45.

I guess 4:45 would have been the latest you could show up to the mississauga location to get a tv.

I planned since yesterday, to be there for 5am. I rec'vd the Sunday Sun with the flyer on Sat (holiday edition), I woke up at 4:59am, was in the parking lot at 0521hrs, and saw approx 45ppls, (YES I counted, and just didn’t care anymore after surpassing 15).

I drove home STAT< and re-checked the ad to make sure there was 15 only.
On my way home, I drove by the BB (7 and West'n Rd/), saw over 100ppls lining up. I said EH! Wnt home and went back to bed.

Though was too funny, pulling up in to the Homeshow Parking lot, stopped, facing all of the ppls waiting, contemplated HIGLY on just staying, I counted 40 something (lost count after 15), finally I drove out, laughing my @$$ OFF, all the way just wondering how many RFD'er were in the line.

NEXT YEAR!!!

There's almost no way they would have any in stock, it's only 15 per store. Almost everyone was just lining up for the TV.

I wish I would've gotten up earlier, I was there at about 5:30. I was about the 40th person in line. Maybe next year :cheesygri

I think that if people were willing to wait 3+ hours in the blowing snow to get one of these things, odds are you havent gotten any PMs yet :P

I actually considered selling the ticket they handed out in line!

are that that great of a deal ?
IMO they're an awesome deal. 1024x768, 450:1 contrast ratio, 12ms resoponse, and a good range of inputs. It's wall mountable and has a remote. The only bad things i've seen about it so far are that the remote has to be pointed DIRECTLY at the receiver in order for it to work, and the menu is such a pain in the butt to operate.

One bad thing about Leon's is that when you purchase your items at the store, they are officially yours even if the delivery guys damage the goods on delivery, it is your responsiblity to return it, not them. Had this happen to a friend of mine and it was too much trouble to try and get the damaged item picked up and get another delivered so they just kept it.
