Well, they've been pretty good to me. Good deals on boxing days. They have always beated the best price I have gotten elsewhere (futureshop, A&B, etc...) by a good amount whenever they had the same stock. Always! So I've had a good track record with them. But like always, YMMV...

If it is, it's Vision's typo.

well, according to other RFDers, most have had bad experiences...

the last time i remember buying from them was when they had LOTR:TTT for $28 after a MIR.... that's pretty much it; i rarely buy from Visions ...

oh yeah, if any1 remembers, last yr boxing day they had a $1 dvd player... i wonder how many ppl actually got the deal b4 they go OOS.... (lol... feel sorry for those who actually lined up for it but didn't get the deal)

As someone who has worked at Visions on previous Boxing Days, I can tell you this much.

-The $1 stuff...You get what you pay for(as always)...
-The really good priced stuff...Do your research, but I find there are a lot of good deals to be had.
-The Managers are told to move as much stock as possible...They are often willing to sell $1 over cost (I have seen this personally)
-The sales guys are pushed to make money off of extended waranty sales not product. (But keep in mind, if you don't use the waranty at all, Visions refunds the price of the extended waranty to you as a credit)
- Visions DOES do haggling at any time of the year, if you can get a better price, see them, and try to get a lower price.

Hope this helps a few people out.

42" Plasma (no brand) - $978

Is it just me or do I find this TV really under priced?? (I've got the same flyer and I am looking at it. It doesn't say if it supports HD or what inputs it has.. anybody know? I mean if that was a SDTV then it'd suck.)

BTW just to give you an idea... these prices are from bestbuy

# Insignia 42” Widescreen Flat-Panel Plasma EDTV: $1499.99
# Philips 42” Widescreen Plasma HDTV: $2499.99

I bought lots from visions when they had their "lifetime" price protection, which I believe has now been changed to 60 days. They were good to me as well. Bought a hitachi 46 hdtv ready rear projection from them for $2999 when it first came out. The price continually dropped over the next 18 months to a low of $1837. They continually matched the price, so I received over $1000 back (most of it in-store credit, which applied after 60 days). So no complaints from me. Also, picked up a camera which dropped $200 over many months and received money and credit for that. Too bad they didnt keep their lifetime price protection. Havent really bought from them since, but always keep an eye there.

I called Vision's and they were kinda rude to me. I asked if the Plasma 42 inch TV (Nova brand name) was an HDTV. He said "Yeah of course it is." Which kind of made me suspicious. I asked him if he was sure it wasn't like EDTV or anything and he replied with "For $900 do you really care?" What a jerk!

I just called visions, when I was about to ask my question when I had a sense that the guy I was talking too wasn't having such a good day... so I made it quick and simple... He said that the 42" plasma TV is NOT an HDTV. It's an EDTV. Still a good deal none the less. (I am just the messenger, I not sure about the credibility of the info I was told. I am gonna check it out myself on boxing day.)

I was going to call them and ask the same thing, but I figured I'd check here first to see if it was already answered. I'm really interested in the 42" Plasma as it seems to be a really good deal.

So, is the brand name "NOVA" and it's an EDTV? Is that what everyone has learned from talking to the sales staff?

So, nobody else can confirm that it's an EDTV plasma? No model numbers or anything?

alien8er
Dec 25th, 2005, 05:16 AM
For $949 I seriously doubt it's HDTV and for being a no-name brand that can't be found on any search engine I don't think I am prepared for paying that much for something that can't be reviewed. I would say it's below EDTV and that it will probably crap on you on New Years Eve.

I drove by the west end location at around 5 this morning and the line was already huge. At least for such a small store it was.

I wonder how FS will verify the price today? Dont think they'll do it as Visions only has 200 chain wide. Once it's OOS, your SOL.

Anyone knows if the prices on Visions' boxing day flyer is still good, assuming they still have something in stock?

I am now a bit more interested in the Bell HDTV receiver (with that $100 Visa GC) than a couple days ago ...

Anyone able to price match the Sharp 32" LC32DA5U with Future Shop or Best Buy? If so, I'd appreciate a scan of the receipt.

Also, if anyone bought the TV for that price from Visions, that would also do. Trying to get some money back from BB on the purchase of this TV from them a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for the help, fellow RFD'ers.
