Standard Inspiron 1300 listed on Dell.ca plus the following upgrades:

15.4 widescreen display
512mb ram
6 Cell Battery
802.11b/g built-in wireless

$713 to my door or $620 before tax! :p

forgot to add DVD/CDRW...just spec'd it on the website came to $929. Let me pat myself on the back for that one.

Also a good deal, but not quiet as good ;) The extra 256megs of ram is a $100 upgrade which you didn't opt for. I'll give you $40 for the DVD burner and $30 for the extra battery (its a $50 upgrade for the extra batt, but I paid $20 to upgrade from 4 to 6) the difference in price for options between your setup and mine. So really your about $76bux shy of my deal $46+30 (diff in price)+(diff in options). Good deal none the less.

Dec 22nd, 2005, 10:29 PM
Gotcha

Thats an incredible deal if its a new lappy, but for that price sounds like a refurb cause its too cheap for a pentium M. I'm sure you didn't factor shipping + duties and taxes into that figure. No way you paid $400 USD for a brand new laptop before tax and shipping to your door, with a $56 dollar router thats impossible.

Their desktop deals don't look that great either. As recent as last week the 9150 had a deal including cheap shipping and a monitor upgrade from the base 19" flat panel to the 1905 and that was for $1449. Now their deal is for $1499 and doesn't include the monitor upgrade.

I think it's lame, if you do it without backup. Post a link, a screen-cap or a receipt and it'll go over much better.

After all, I could state I bought a new Pentium M laptop for $30 if I wanted.

Looks like the Axim 51 416Mhz has a 15% off right now, selling for $297. There's no free shipping, but if you talk to a rep s/he can probably put it in plus give you a few dollars off.

Is this a good deal guys? What do you think?

Actually, I called in to verify free shipping and the sale rep offer to sell me it at $350 if I by from her rather then buying from online!!! Saved another 9 bucks. Hahah, sweet! Guess she really needed the sale to boast quota. (btw, free shipping)

I've noticed that Dell's "deals" are actually them lowering the specs on their laptops to get the price down, and then not giving you the option of seeing all the upgrades/downgrades you can get. i.e., $999 Inspiron 6000 = Intel Pentium M 725 instead of the 740 1.73GHz.

they do this all the time, have a co-worker that wants to buy but they keep changing the specs on him when the price gets lowered...hate to be one of their csrs since it would drive me crazy trying to keep track of the weekly/daily changes.

Personally, I'm holding out for the new 32" model to get a little cheaper. I refuse to buy an HDTV at this point without a built-in HDTV tuner, and the 32 incher is the cheapest in Dell's new line that includes one. Otherwise, I'd jump on the 26".

Got my Insperion 1300 deal Dell had for $599 + $20 for 6 cell before Xmas. Very nice laptop for price. Like the built in wireless and DVD burner. But need to uninstall all the junk they put in. Then get yourself a copy of Nero and you've got a hot machine to burn DVDs. Waiting to upgrade RAM from third party. But playback on the widescreen for DVD is smooth. The stereo speakers are also quite impressive and loud/clear when watching DVDs. Built in G has great reception. 6 cell battery lasts 3.5 hours - not bad. M chips much more quiet, fan hardly comes on. If only they added S video out and the machine would be really cool for the price tag.

the other connectivity device you might want is a wireless B/G pci card (some laptops have these integrated)...

Today's the last day for the extra 5% off the x50v, but I'm very dissappointed in the boxing week savings. I missed the peripheral sale by two days before Christmas when it was $399 and free shipping. Has anyone been able to purchase the Axim x50v for less than $449? I guess I'll have to hope and wait for another 10-12 day sale from Dell.

Does anyone have any experience with the LCD TVs? I'm thinking of picking up the 23" ($900-->$700) or 26" ($1200-->$900). Most of the reviews are positive, but I've also found a number of complaints. Suggestions?

Got a 2306C during the 12 days of christmas sale...arrived before xmas and have been happily using it since :)

honestly, i would've taken the 26" @ 899 if it was on sale back then. The 2306C works fine; havent got a DVI connection to test yet, but all other inputs work and the picture quality is pretty good.

Reviews for the older series 2300/2600 were quite good ...althought there are some ppl that received defective products and had to deal w/ dell's customer service...so...

if you want the ability to return something u dont like, then buy from BB/FS or costco, but if u want a pretty good deal, the dell is hard to beat, unless u opt for brands like prima/insignia/etc

Personally, I'm holding out for the new 32" model to get a little cheaper. I refuse to buy an HDTV at this point without a built-in HDTV tuner, and the 32 incher is the cheapest in Dell's new line that includes one. Otherwise, I'd jump on the 26".

after having a Bell PVR for quite some time I found I couldn't live without PVR functionality when I started using OTA HDTV signals, so I built a Media Center computer with a DTV tuner card - no need for any TV tuner in my HDTV/Monitor thank you very much, digital or analogue - just an added expense. DVI input is all I need.

Thanks

was 379 not the last 10-12 day sale but the one before..

Actually, I mean to say the x51v. If it was, $379 (and not the x50v) that's nice to know and I'll wait for another deal, hopefully within the next few months.

Thanks again.
