no doubt about the quality of the couches, but HITACHI is a good quality LCD tv.

I'm temped by that too as I need furniture and a tv anyways.

Any way to get a cheaper stand? Or are you pretty much stuck buying the $300 one?

I wonder how much they are over charging for the couches if they can afford to give you the TV for free?

well, subtract the cost of the TV from the price of the couches, then divide by 2. That is probably what the couches are actually worth.

That's hilarious.

They'd do better saying "LCD TV for $2113 and get a 3 piece couch set FREE!"

hmm, the TV is not an LCD TV, it is LCD Projection, big difference.

Looks like the same TV in black.

So you overpay for the sofas and get an old technology TV, great. Not. Is anything the Brick 'gives' away anything but end of line crap that they can't sell for retail so they write it off by giving it away?

I've never bought anything major from the Brick but it always gets to me when I see they are 'giving' away garbage to get you to buy their overpriced stuff.

did a google search cause I've never heard of an LCD projection TV:

What is LCD Projection HDTV?

Hitachi LCD rear projection television features the latest innovative home theater technology in a sleek, well-engineered design. LCD television delivers unmatched high definition performance and vibrant colors in about one-third the cabinet depth of a comparable CRT projection HDTV and with less than half the weight. The slim profile of the LCD design returns more living space to any room and allows for an easy fit into a normal shelf, wall unit or entertainment center. The powerful and efficient 3-panel advanced light engine is engineered for superior color performance and accuracy, enhanced contrast and high brightness. Experience the LCD revolution with the Hitachi UltraVision Digital® LCD Projection television, a perfect example of cutting edge technology and state of the art design brought together as never before.

Bottom line, anything projection will not be as good as the real thing.
i.e. LCD > LCD projection

yeap, LCD Projection is the current projection technology but it is a dying standard as LCD/Plasma are taking over.

LCD projection are equally good if taking advantage of HDTV programming.

No...you don't understand. LCD projection is just getting an LCD of a certain size (in most cases really really small like a few inches) and then projecting it onto a larger screen. How is that going to give you equal quality to a pure LCD TV where each pixel is represented physically?

LCD projection sets look just fine. Just like buying a projector for your home and investing in a decent screen. The Projection sets are a little more practical and look good also.

ANY digital projection set (LCD, DLP) can be a good set (depending on make/model of course).

I'd much rather have my DLP over a plasma or LCD TV, especially at the pricepoint for a 50" screen.

LCD Projections are still the current tech standard... Where the heck are you going to get a 60" non projection LCD TV? Especially without selling your soul?

Is this the same TV at Costco for $2000?

I'd research the set a little and check out the couches first if I were you.

I wouldn't put much faith in a group of folks who probably don't have HDTVs and claim that this is dated tech... And throw themselves at the first Radio Shack branded LCD TV that costs under a grand, simply because its under a grand.

To get a much better idea of the set, hit www.avsforum.com

Chances are its an older model, but LCD projection is not a bad technology at all - with HDTV programming, as previously mentioned. Digital projection sets aren't the best with standard definition.

^ Yeah, I was really only slightly interested.

I'm still wrestling with wether or not I need to buy a big TV now, or if I should wait. I need to replace my TV soon, I just haven't decided wether I'm going to replace it something affordable to pass the time, or something good.

I also need to buy furniture, but haven't decided wether I'm going to spend some decent money, or I'm just going to buy cheaper Ikea type stuff.

So many choices, makes my head spin.

The 3 peices would be the couch, ottoman, and chair.

Doh. Sorry I keep confusing Ottoman with loveseat.

I'm not sure how they figure it out.

Just checked the flyer again. It says sofa, loveseat, and chair.

And the prices listed are:

Couch:$977
Loveseat: $967
Chair: $897

Edit: Never mind, your prices you listed are for the leather one.

I went in to the Brick just to check it out.

Turns out(at least at the Kitchener store) that they don't even have any of the 50" LCD TVs. The only packages they had was the one with the RCA 52" rear projection, and the 5-1 camcorder(which looks crappy).

Kind of odd to have a boxing day flyer and to not even have the model you're advertising.

I'm not really convinced it's all that much of a deal. Sure the furniture didn't seem all that bad. But I'm pretty sure that it's not worth $2800. And the TV isn't really anything amazing. From what it seems it's basically a clearance model, I'm even having trouble finding all that many reviews on it.

They make it out to be much more of a deal then it actually is. And it's not really boxing day exclusive. I'm pretty sure they had the exact same sort of package when I first looked at it a month ago.

I think I'm going to just see what kind of deals I can find on furniture, and worry about the TV at a later day. I'd rather save some money now, and get what I really want later.

I bought the $298 couch and $278 loveseat on the front page this morning. I couldn't pass up that deal. We needed furniture for the basement recroom, microsuede is good durable fabric (or so I'm told at all the furniture stores). Didn't want anything too 'good' with 2 young boys at home, so this was perfect for us. Leather is also good but we have leather in our living room so we didn't want another leather set. The problem is that you place the order today, but they don't have stock so they place one big order after boxing day and then call you when it gets in (est Feb 15! but salesperson said it would likely come sooner). Got a free dvd player too which is great for the spare room for company. I hope it comes sooner....
