A Future Shop employee in the FS flyer thread said that there would be no price matches on boxing day, and the whole costomer service counter would be shut down. I'd guess it will be the same at BB

there may not be pricematching, but there is price protection, which is they will honour a lower price within 30 days of your purchase

I like the FS deals better. The WD 250 GB HDD is amazing!

Isn't it only like $15-20 below the usual prices at NCIX or cheap B&M stores for a 250 gig HD?

When one factors in the MIR, plus the fact that it's PATA... doesn't seem worth getting up for.

FS used to have such good HD deals a few years ago, too...

Same thing with the DVD burners. OEM DVD burners are around $50 every day... this is nothing like last year's $5 CD burners.

No, it's been said already. The Customer Service desk is closed during the boxing week sale - no price matches. After boxing week you can attempt a price match, but I don't see that being successful after the prices return to normal price.

I have three Maxtors, two boxing day WDs, and random other things. All are fine...

WDs are the typical FS/BB Boxing Day deal usually, though this year BB went to Maxtors...

HD brands are like religion; each brand has its fanatics. I wonder if that 300 gigger @ NCIX is still available...

$870 for the D50 is a good deal; definately the cheapest price I've seen for it. I also like the Denon/Infinity speaker and receiver package. It's very similar to what I picked up at last year's sale and it's $100 cheaper.

I'm a little surprised that there aren't more TV's for sale. I'll just have to wait a little longer for a plasma.

Happy shopping everyone!

Remember, every year, they gave out last minute flyer when you are in line to get into the shop and 1 in 50-100 (depend where you are) chances for giftcards and electronics. I remember last year there is a digital camera. I am there lining up for sure.

To all those that asked, as a vet of many Boxing Day sales....

1) PM will NOT be possible on the day of purchase. You can't get FS to pricematch BB or any other combination. Customer service will be closed and even if they weren't, the "limited quantities" on the deals removes the possibility of a pricematch.

2) Price protection will not be available after the fact. Again, the limited quantity and door crasher prices are excluded from price protection.

... Our Lowest Price Guarantee does not apply to advertising errors or misprints, special educational prices, restricted offers, mail order offers, rebates, coupons, premiums, free or bonus offers, OEM products, limited or minimum quantity or limited time offers, close-outs, liquidations, clearances, and special financing offers.

I'm a bit confused... the flyer states the Boxing Day Sale starts at 12:01 AM December 25, which is Christmas morning, right?

I'm assuming that's an error and it actually starts at 12:01 AM December 26.The Dec 25 isn't a misprint. The internet sale starts at 12:01am EST on Dec 25. The retail store sales start on Dec 26th.

In the past, both Futureshop and BestBuy have screwed people on rebates for items purchased early on Dec 25th. I've bought items at 12:01EST on 12/25 right after they've opened the website. But since BB/FS are on the west coast, the receipt actually printed with 9:01pm PST 12/24. The rebate form says "for purchases on Dec 25 & Dec 26th only", and I've been denied! Hopefully this problem has been resolved...

there may not be pricematching, but there is price protection, which is they will honour a lower price within 30 days of your purchase

that's what every1 else is wondering....

since there is price protection, every1 can technically buy all the stuff today and go back after the 27th at FS/BB to get the price protection (i.e. 100% PM), since there is that 30 day price guarantee if a lower price comes up...

but then again, these boxing day sales have almost everything in limited quantities...

mahjongmaniac
Dec 22nd, 2005, 02:13 PM
No, it's been said already. The Customer Service desk is closed during the boxing week sale - no price matches. After boxing week you can attempt a price match, but I don't see that being successful after the prices return to normal price.

actually, if the item is a boxing WEEK sale item, i don't see why going back for a price protection is not possible...

if it was a boxing day sale item (26th or 27th), then that sale would be over and u wouldn't be able to get PM ...

Same here...

Does the "Minimum of 10 per store" thing mean that its unlikely I'll be able to get my hands on one if I'm not the first one in store?

Or can I order on Bestbuy.ca online as soon as the sale starts??

Help is appreciated.

It has a webID, so it should be available online on the 25th. My decision now is wether I get the 5GB creative or the 20 GB Toshiba, or the 20GB Creative from FS. Any suggestions?

Do you know what process of buying through BestBuy is like?

How many pages of information msut I fill out when placing an order? (I really want this mp3 player, so I gotta prepare :))

Is it likely that this is such a hot item that I will lose it while placing my order (such as putting in c/c number or something)

create an account. in the account you can save your shipping info, cc info, billing address. so its just a matter of pushing the "next" button 5-6 times to have your order placed

Wait on it... FS just had the toshiba satellite M70-SR3 for 1299 with almost identical specs (except only 512mb ram - the extra 512mb would cost about $65). This is good deal, but not amazing, and in 8 months you'll definitely get more for $1300.

Philips 42PF7320 HDTV Plasma
$1000 off = $2,499

I was at Queensway to see what the TV looks like but they did not have any in stock. They did not know how many they will get in. It goes 200 chain wide.

I noticed that the BB store cost price is $2,182.77
So they are still making over $300 on the unit.

Leads me to believe that the regular price is a high "stupid price". Then they wonder why noone is buying the things.

Nothing really makes me want to wait in line for 6 hours!

Even the HDs i can get at CC for just about $20 more.

maxtor's mfr warranty is 3 yrs for OEM.... there's a lot of misinformation about oem warrenties, the 3 year mfr warrenties only apply to the original buyer, for instance a Dell etc, buys a ton of drives and resells to resellers who in turn sell to other resellers like canada computers etc. http://www.maxtor.com/portal/site/Maxtor/menuitem.a14629af82eff9461400585760b46068/?channelpath=/en_us/Support/Warranty%20Services/Original%20Equipment%20Manufacturer%20Warranty

My best guess is that they are "holding" back some inventory so they will have enough for the entire period of the sale (there were *some* restocks last year).

I don't blame Best Buy, but the site is obviously just too busy. Those who are getting through are quite lucky.

I've been trying to check out since 10 p.m. MST, I can't believe it's over an hour and a half later now. I've never seen any e-commerce website this busy.

I have the same problem, ordered a router and got a USB wireless adapter instead.

I can't find the rebate form on their website now, can someone post a link to the PDF (the rebate for 1 single router) ?

Does anyone know when the rebates expire? I just might return this thing (assuming I can) instead of dealing with all this hassle.
