It doesn't look like the big retailers will have any hot deals for PDAs, but if you come across any, please post them here.

Powerful little palm for a great price, too bad the screen is only 160x160, can't imagine myself reading ebook on such a tiny screen.

If you want a high end PDA, look at the Dell Axim x51v. They have sales for a few times during the year and you might be able to get one on christmas.

If your going to get a PDA, there is no better Deal than Dell PDA when they come in sale.

The X51 at 299$ is much better than the Ipaq rx1950 at the Same price and the X51v is still the best pda available for 389$...

The Ipaq would be hot if it would be 199$-229$, but at 299$, better get the dell one which have MUCH more memory, faster cpu and bluetooth at the same price.

Ipaq rx1950
CPU: 300MHz
RAM: 32 MB SDRAM
ROM: 64 MB
Wifi: Yes
Bluetooth: No
Cradle: None (cost a nice 50$ extra)
OS: WM5

Dell X51
CPU: 512MHz
RAM: 64MB SDRAM
ROM: 128MB ROM
Wifi: Yes
Bluetooth: Yes
Cradle: Included
OS: WM5

For the same price, make your choice...

Hey,

Just wondering where you'd find that Dell x51 for $299? Seems like a much better deal than I can find anywhere.

Thanks

I vouch for the Axim too, I had the X5i for a while (older version of the X51) and it was awesome. Much better than the HP, iPaqs, and Casio that preceded it ion my collection.

Same here, where to get that price?

And what is the return policy with Dell? What if I don't like it or something... that's the bad part about buying from Dell, cuz if I buy the HP, I could have the regular 30-Day return policy.

I'm looking for a deal on the Asus MyPal A730W. I need a PDA with 802.11b and a camera.

Currently $600 @ Canada Computers, but hopefully much cheaper on boxing day.

They have a 21 days return guarantee which they could still charge you shipping and a 15% restocking fee, but usually they don't. You just have to be firm that the product does not meet your expectations on an advertised specification or the product has some major problem that Dell failed to provide an adequate solution.

I just read the policy and it says 30 days, nothing about restocking fee, but says I need to pay for return shipping.

So are you saying that if I'm firm on the fact that if it doesn't meet my expectations, I can get them to pick it up, and I wouldn't need to pay for return shipping?

If I don't have to pay for return shipping just in case I'm not satisfied, then I might buy one. The 416Mhz model is on for $297 right now, which I believe is a deal. Unfortunately it doesn't come with the $47 cradle.. maybe I could persuade the rep to give that to me for free too! Who knows.

Canada Computer has a Palm TX for $330 (Hmm, since their regular price is $350, then this isn't a great deal...)

Any idea if anywhere has a good sale on the X51 (not the v model)?
Or any other decent sales (or hopefully better than decent) on PDAs?

I know it says 30 days, but the so called "Total Satisfaction Return Policy" period is in fact 21 days (weird isn't it?). After 21 days, they will usually not send you a new one if it's defective, only refurbs would be sent out. And for the shipping cost and stuff, YMMV.

Also, you must have missed this line under their return policies:
.... the refund credit will not include any shipping and handling charges shown on your invoice, and will be subject to a fifteen percent (15%) restocking fee

So it sounds like it's not worth it then. I'm not willing to pay 15% restocking fee just because I'm not satisfied. But it sounds like if I give the CSR some hard time s/he'll probably waive the shipping and restock, I suppose?

Thing is, I've never dealth with Dell before.

They never ask for the 15% (unless you abuse the axim. If it's "like new", they never charge). You "might" have to pay for the return shipping (about 15$) but you will like it anyway. It's one of the best PDA and when they are on sale, they are near 2 time cheaper than Ipaq or Asus (299$ vs 599$ and 389$ vs 699$).

Is this for the 400 MHZ or the 500 MHZ X51? Because the 400 MHZ is on for $297 right now, but doesn't have WiFi.

Is there a chance of seeing the 500 MHZ on sale at $300 ever, or should I just get the TX or the X51v while they're on sale?

Anything to consider besides the rx1950?

The $300 x51 doesnt have wifi as Alundar just noted.

The TX looks nice with the 320x480 screen and landscape mode, but not sure which is best. (and Palm vs WM5?)

Also, looks like most SD deals are $70 for 1GB, what about 2GB?

Softmagic.ca sells Palm Tx for 345+Tax, but if you are in Ontario you dont pay PST so save 7%.

they have a great service, i bought two palms from them. they have been always fast and reliable.

i`ll wait till tomorrow and see if their price goes down a little bit more, i`m also plannign to get TX for myself.

Palm is going down... and WM5 isn't great either, but at least it will be continually improved and more software titles will be available on WM5. Also, there are emulators that can allow you to run Palm programs off WM but not vice versa. Overall, if all you do is surf the net, put it a few contacts and appointments, PALM is more reliable. But if you like to entertain yourself a bit with a PDA, WM is the way to go.
