Since I'm a new Costco member, I've never been in a Costco store for the Boxing Day shopping period... do they have Boxing Day sales? How do they compete with all the sales offered by their competitors? Any comments?

Good question - I don't believe they do but since they are now more coupon happy, this might change? Any costco employees here?

Yes... they are goign to have a Boxing Day sale... they usually mark down televisions and small appliances. I was there last night and the lady at the door handed me a flyer with no specifics other than to let us know that they were having a Boxing Day sale!

They have never had big Boxing Day deals, actually this is the first year that they have even been open on Boxing Day! Don't expect much, I noticed many of their Xmas stuff was already on sale yesterday. (HINT: All Costco prices ending in 7 are a clearance price)

Boxing day coupons will be handed out. I'll see if I can get one 'pre-scanned' and up here for RFD. Check back. :cheesygri

From what I remember working at Costco last christmas.
Boxing day just had regular flyer on some electronics and home items, but that sale is not a special boxing day sale, that sale went on for the whole week. But it was a matter of getting it before it was all gone.

Oh yea I think I got double pay that day too

Does costco take other manufacture coupons or just their own.

The bosses are all being super secretive about the boxing day coupons, they won't even tell us what they are. A co-worker managed to sneak a peek and said that there will be some good deals in the electronics department but he couldn't remember any specifics.

FYI: They don't accept manufacturer coupons.

Do you actually need to be a member to purchase something? Or can you go to the store and buy something using someone else's membership card?

You generally need to produce a membership card to enter and definitely a card to pay for your purchase. The photo ID on the membership card is poor quality, so it's a likeness of the card owner at best.

Can a NON-member return a gift received from Costco? Without a receipt, will they get cash or a gift card? If gift card, can they use it at Costco?

It looks like they've added more items to their Boxing Day page since it went online. However, there is still nothing listed that would make me crash their doors.

I agree that there is nothing too exciting for me either. They may have more in store though. They tend to carry a better selection at the store itself i find. Anyone going, want to post the coupons?

FYI, I called the Heartland location this morning and they don't open until 11 AM, which is later than the usual weekday hours.

I called 2 Ottawa stores, both open at 11am, catch is: Hunt Club store told me that there are no boxing day sales and no extra coupons, and the Innes Store told me that there are a few coupons for electronics, thats it...

Hmm, I was really looking forwards to it!

from what i remember from last year, they had a few coupon-ed items, and there was a decent deal on a home theatre system last year. . .

some of those 'deals' posted on their website are not deals at all--the flash card is regular price, and the 1gb mp3 player is actually $10 more expensive than i saw in store last week. . .

i hope there are other deals in b&m
