Been hearing the xbox original (NOT 360) will drop price to make way for the new Xbox 360 so i'm wondering about possible prices during Boxing Day.
I'd really like to get one, futureshop had a good deal a week back at $189 but its back up to $199, any hope for around $149?
Thanks

I wouldn't pay any more than $150 for a new Xbox. Talked to some guys at Future Shop, they all said there's not going to be any special deals, but who really knows I guess.

Anyway, that sucks, no price drop on it? :(
I heard Microsoft loses money on each sale of the original Xbox because Nvidia gets all the money or something...i don't know
Yeah i want to pay $150 new xbox...Please!!!!

i was wondering when the big price drop would happen until i finally gave up and bought one used. if you're lucky and vigilant, you might find a good deal.
i found a modded one with 120gig hard drive (30 games) and controllers for $195. i recently saw someone posting theirs (unmodded) for $100 in craigslist.org
if you could find one for 150 i'd think about buying it new, but like the previous poster said, anything more's a bit pricey.

I have been waiting for the price drop too. I ended up buying it at zellers because I need it for Christmas.
In the current flyer http://hbc.flyerservices.com/noncached_admin/interim.asp?
page 26 I think, they have the bundle with Forza and Fusion Frenzy for $199.99 but it also includes an extra wireless controller worth about $30.
Not great, but a bit better than the Futureshop deal. If you can wait, there probably will be better deals in January or so IMO.

FS last year had the refurbished on sale but it turns out that they didnthave any so they ended up giving my brother a new xbox for the same price. So u never know they might do it again!

hrmmm well the current holiday package at futureshop is $199.99 NON refurbished, 2 games...might be worth it more to spend $40.00 get the 2 games and newer (non refurbished) system.

This doesn't exactly apply but I bought a refurb one from EB about 4 years ago and it came with a 90 day warranty. I've never had any problems with it either so that was nice!

I bought mine 2 years ago at Futureshop.
They had "Factory refurbished" one at 199$ in store. But Online, it was 199$ for brand new. So you have some hope for online deal.
I was overkill and I did a price match the boxing day.. Man 3 hours to save 40$ (but I didn't had a credit card by this time)
So, keep an eye online and don't make price match on boxing day.. it's terrible

Unless you have your heart set on modding it, I would save more money and get a 360. MS is running away from XBOX 1 as fast as they can.

I'm looking into buying one to make into a Media center as well. $159 is much cheaper than any computer I can build to make into a media center. But I've done little research - how effective is the XBOX at being a media center? I'd want to use it with a wireless network to stream video files from other computers.

You can use wireless adapter on Xbox (well I never seen one)
It's good for media center, but you have to add a mod-chip, an hard drive, HD cable set (to get at least SVideo) and the remote.
It won't end at 159$.

Don't need a mod chip...
Don't need a HD
maybe need a cable set if you really need svideo... how good are most downloaded videos anyways...
Don't need a remote use your controller.
Softmod
Load latest xbmc
Link it to your computer with a network cable and you are set... alot better way to watch downloaded content.

I'm using my Xbox as my HTPC. I set up ccXstream on my PC and XBMC can browse my PC for any files I want to watch. Works great.
Just remember - You're using basically a P3 733 CPU. Don't expect to be running any HD content. Otherwise its awesome. I'd recommend an 11g wireless network though.
