ive never had problems with amazon over the 5 years ive been shopping with them
although cancelling and totally removing FFAC was not cool
anyways, think of them helping you out, Xbox360 is gonna be a failure
All hail PS3 and amazon!

Kinda leary after the whole pricing error thing... If they sell too many DVD's or CD's, they may just cancel and claim a pricing error again!

I find it funny how people refuse to shop somewhere when that company refuses to honour a pricing error, when they clearly state on their website that they have to the right to cancel any order.... almost as bad as people reselling things they got at a discount for a profit to other RFDrs...

I agree,
Everyone speculated there were pricing errors during those incredible prices for the DVD's at Amazon. Most people were expecting them to cancel the orders... and they did.
Retailers want to make money.. there has to be some special circumstances to be selling 3 DVD sets for 13 dollars if its not a mistake.
I have no problem buying from Amazon again.

I have to agree with fl4w and scrub.
If someone finds a pricing error and buys 1 then maybe they will get lucky with the retailer giving them that price but once you involve 100's of other people who order many multiples of the same error then the retailer will of course have to cancel the orders. Every E-tailer has this written in their online policy incase of pricing errors.....

the thing is they never admitted those 360 accessories are pricing errors. They just claimed they wont have them anymore when you can still order them now for the newer higher price. To me that is a disgusting strategy. Wait for a month or two, never update your members on why they not getting shipments, and then give an email saying it has been cancelled. WOW!

Same here! Here's hoping they put up some good game deals. Another thing that might be good, is if books go on sale, then maybe game strategy guides will count in there? (i'm a huge nut with collecting those things)

I hope Chapters.ca offers a comparable sale. They're Canadian, their free shipping is faster by XpressPost and it's easy to return you order to any Chapters or Indigo store.

I didn't think you could return online purchases to a store?
Does Chapters/Indigo even sell software/games?

Hi there,
Chapters got a strange way of returns. They will only return you a gift card, not a refund, that's what happen when I wanted to return something. I guess it varies.
Personally, Amazon.ca is an ok store, books and pre-order games. However, after the release date, discount sucks compare to retail store. If you're update with an order (like cancelling when you been waiting for like weeks for it), let them know and ask them for a promotional coupon for conpensation. :)

I've returned online purchases in stores. It even says you can do it on their web site policies. For that single reason, I'd buy from Chapters.ca over Amazon.ca if price is the same. The bonus is Chapters.ca using XpressPost over Amazon.ca's expedited Canada Post, which is quicker shipping for RFDers who don't live in Toronto or Vancouver.

Return you a gift card? As in a Store Credit?
That's not strange, lots of stores do it. It keeps the money at the same company rather than you taking your cash elsewhere to get something.
I totally agree with store credit espescially if you are returning without a receipt (not saying that's what happened in your case :) ) The company is taking your item back and issuing you a credit that must be used at their store. Who knows if you've bought the same item at Grand & Toy for 50% off and you're trying to turn a quick profit?

From my experience, Amazon.com is *much* cheaper than both Chapters.ca and Amazon.ca even with the exchange rate and shipping extra factored in.
Many publishers use a 1.4x exchange rate when calculating Canadian book prices, while the real exchange rate is obviously much lower than that.
Amazon.com also does many more deep-discounts on books & DVD's, while Amazon.ca tends to list many more products at full list price.

I realize that this information would probably be here if it were available, but what time is this going to begin? Midnight EST?
I have vague recollections about amazon.ca having a Boxing Day sale last year, but that it wasn't so great. Then again, I could just be making this up.

you fill out a form at chapters B&M when you return chapters online goods there. They do not refund you on the spot, you get credit back about 1 week later from chapters online.

I'm glad Amazon is OK for somebody. Out of every 10 orders with them I'll be lucky if 2 or maybe 3 go OK.
They cancel or claim 'no stock' on so many items I've ordered. Items are charged different prices than on the site or order.
Also, their $39 minimum for free shipping is stupid. I always order enough to break the $39 limit, and there's about an 80% chance they'll hold my order for several weeks, then cancel because an item they continue to advertise as in stock just can't be supplied. More often than not it will be the item I wanted in the first place that gets canceled, not the item I ordered to pad the total. So then they ding you with a shipping charge due to their own inventory mismanagement.
The net result --> customer ends up paying too much for something they didn't really want that much, and waiting many weeks to get.
Then they make you go to the nearest Chapters to return said $39 padding item, and that is typically a negative customer experience. Because your order date on the slip is 4 to 6 weeks back by the this time, they treat you as if you've read the book already.
All in all, Amazon.ca does a lot of things that reinforce in the customer a bad feeling. If Amazon.ca ever has a decent competitor I'll switch in a heartbeat.

Well, it seems to be live now, but (looking at DVDs only) I don't see anything that particularly excites me. Maybe Wizard of Oz, but there are so many versions out I suspect I can find something cheaper on eBay any old day. Was going to see what ThunderDVD's price on that was compared to Amazon but dammit, looks like they've gone the way of dvdsoon.com (http://www.thunderdvd.com/) (only it looks with much more dignity)

Did they just increase the regular prices of their games to make it seem like everything is on a crazy sale?
The only 'deal' I've found is Agassi Tennis (a terrible game from 2003) for $3.99 for PS2.

If you like Seinfeld, the Season 5 and 6 DVDs are 50% off, which is a decent deal if you already bought one of the earlier seasons and didn't take advantage of their Season 1-6 package:
Seinfeld: Season 5 - $29.97
Seinfeld: Season 6 - $29.97

Holy cow guys, There are some great deals on there for games!
I just picked up an Xbox Holiday Pack (Includes Forza and Fusion Frenzy) for a super $169.99, NHL 2K6 for $11.99, Tiger Woods for $23.99 and BF2:MC for $23.99.
Those are really good prices IMHO. $169.99 for that Holiday Pack is a great deal. Cheapest I've ever seen it before now was the $179.99 @ FS, and they ran out of stock real quick, even in store.

Nothing for my consoles (PS2 and DS) like that... boo. I was hoping Warrior Within for PS2 would be below $20.
I like how if you search for games (NHL2k6) it shows regular prices but you have to go throug hthe right channels to find the discounted prices...
