I believe FS now has their sale start at 12:00am on the 25th (ie, right after Christmas Eve).

It was the 26th two years ago, but it's the 25th now, correct?

FS and BB were pounded last year. Certainly was far easier than fighting the crowds. Easier also for those out west, it's only 9 pm in Vancouver time when the sale prices go online, hehe. Had my Boxing Day online shopping done within an hour. Just make sure your credit card is freed up to avoid any snafus.

Let's hope their servers have been upgraded by now.

I really wish futureshop would let us pay online with our gift cards. I have almost a $1000 gift card and I don't want to go to the store and line up in the freeezing cold to get something

I wonder how FS will handle the in store pickup for the boxing day items.

Buy it online.

Return it in store later and tell them you still want the item but want to use your gift card. They shouldn't have a problem with that.

Is this right?? I thought FS was based out of Burnaby, so that means the sites don't go online until 12am PST, which means later on the further east you go.

Is it the servers that are the bottleneck or their pipe to their servers??

Doesn't matter how many servers they have unless they mate them to a big PIPE to carry the bandwidth.

FS and BB are definitely based out of Burnaby...

but that's all the insight i have on that. not sure what time they will go up.

But damn! Either way i'm going to have to skip out of Christmas festivities and do some shopping!

Somehow I doubt it :(

i don't think there'd be a diff. this yr.

last yr, server crashed right when the sale started... (BOY was that fun! )

virtually no1 could buy anything...

this yr, even if FS/BB "upgrades" their servers, there will still be a lotta ppl shopping online.
according to stats, there will be even MORE ppl shopping online than the prev. yr..

Riverside Golf in Vancouver sells clubs and club-sets below-cost on Boxing Day...

buy the MIR stuff online and shop in-store for smaller items. every year the FS server gets pounded until it won't even load. the trick is to research for boxing day thread posted by helpful RFD'ers then wait for 12:00AM. grab what you need -- if it's sold out it'll be replenished in 12hrs then 24hrs later (usually). large items & "free after MIR" are snatched quite quickly but last year another curious thing happened: some online orders will not shipped out until 3-5 days later.

i actually walked into a store (even though it was showing out of stock) and found what i needed on Dec. 28th. waited an extra day for my online order to ship but i never received the confirmation so i cancelled it. overall, i still give FS top marks for handling the amount of traffic and numerous promos during boxing day... much better than compusmart.
