Damn, they create the board and the dude is already posting! :)
In response to your question, YES but I refuse to line up in the cold for Futureshop/Bestbuy/Staples.

I'd only be going to my usual quiet Compusmart and Staples, but will be far away from Retail madness this year, so no Boxing Day deals for me.

I'm going shopping - in my pajamas. (online)
Why line up in the cold?
Seriously, no sale is worth that.
Unless you're broke-ass poor.

You do know the Ikea boxing "week sale" already started right?

I may not head out on the 26th per se, but I'll certainly get out at some point and pick up some half price wrapping paper, gift tags and cards to stash away for next year.
Perhaps see if there's any good deals on clothing for something sparkly and fun.
Thankfully, there's nothing I really need or desire.

I think I would go out for a specific deal on something I wanted.... not sure that I would line up outside anywhere in the cold for hours to save a couple of bucks on something I didn't know I needed.... then your aren't "saving" you're just "spending less"......

I'm planning on buying online.
Though if I do go in person it's going to be later on, and I'm not sure I'm going to get anything(in regards to Furniture & TV).
No sense lining up in person for the "deals". Those events bring out the bottom dwellers of our society.

i'll go if there's a real deal out there. otherwise i can pass.

Depends on what is on sale, and for how cheap.. most likely, I will not be lining up in the cold anywhere. Might hit FS/BB during the day, definately will check them out online..
Personally, I'm looking for a digital camera, and that's about it - and I may very well be getting one of those for Christmas :->

The only way I`m shopping is on-line. It`s the best way unless you really gotta have that article right away. If not, wait a couple of days and you`ll get it be fedex our puro or whatever.
Won't have to deal with all the people in the stores and the morons who still try to return something on the 26th even the sign is 10x10 feet stating no returns on the 26th!!

Historically, what kind of sales have there been at FS/BB? I've never lined up, but if they've got something good I'd think about it.
I'll be hitting up West Edmonton Mall though.. I love that mall on Boxing Day. Not too bad in the morning, but once 11am hits, it's pure madness.

dont think i'm gonna go to the computer/electronic stores... although they have decent deals, i don't think i really need anything... so i'm not gonna waste my time there...
i'll definitely go shopping... just not too sure what time... the earlier the better... but knowing me, i won't get up in time to beat the crowd... lol

The in-store "deals" tend to be clearance stuff. Sure you can get a DVD player for $10, but it's probably going to be old/crappy. Alot of the door crashers, etc are crap deals like that. Why waste your time fighting with a bunch of people over something that is cheap in price and quality?
I'd rather spend a bit more money and get something decent.

I'll be up Christmas Eve to buy FS/BB items. Anyone remember 2003, when we all started to buy at 12am EST and after realized the sale started at 12am PST?
Ahh, good times, the number of times we crashed the FS website...

I have to pick someone up at the Toronto airport on the 26th so I'm heading to Yorkdale - I'm hoping to find some decent sales on at the good clothing stores.

Not me. In the "old days", it was fun and worth it to go out. Now, all of the so-called "deals" are generally refurb or "junk" items (like those classic $99 big screen "Sorny and Magnetbox" TVs that many of the chains have). Also, prices are almost always better for quality items in January and February (slowest months of the year for retail, more sales, discounts and bankruptcies). Now, to go shopping on boxing day, you have to fight for a spot in the parking lot, line up for a half hour to buy something, and get home tired and miserable. I remember going to Edmonton Centre when Harry Rosen, the Bay, etc. would have real clearout sales; these don't exist anymore. Kudos to stores like Future Shop and IBM for having their boxing day sales online.
It's only worth it if you go to buy wrap, calendars, and cards for next year.

I don't really need anything apart from a PSP game here and there and maybe a 1GB stick. I also need an ipod airclick (or other IR remote) for my ipod. But 'tis all. I'm happy at home with my PSP not freezing outside.

Probably will hit the usual malls, STC, & Markville Mall.
Mostly checking out BB & FS, not doing that waiting in line since 5 am crap.
All I need basically is iPod Nano tubes and some new clothes.

boxing day is an overinflated, overhyped, marketing gimick. most of the stuff 'on-sale' is not a big deal. out of everything, there may be 5% of things that are actually hot deals, and by the time you get to the front of the line, they run out. total waste of time IMIO just for some mediocre deals. way too much hassle just to shove your way to a good deal.

i agree w/ u... there might be a few things here and there that are actually "hot doorcrashers" but the rest could prbly be had for the same or better price in Jan./Feb. when they wanna clear out old stock...
an example i can think of right now are last yr's FS Benq 200pk dvds for $60....
i think it came back in march/april at same price.

I'm not doing in-store anymore, it's an utter madhouse at most places.
I'll be camping on RFD's frontpage and forums, shopping online. :)
