I know it says Free mobo but comparing the prices you are actually paying about $40 for the board, which is pretty good considering it costs $200.
I read some reviews and both GUP and Mobo seem to be solid products.

I picked this up during the last NCIX sale and set it up this weekend. So far so good. :) Mine included Call of Duty 2, which I don't see mentioned on TD.

Have you overclocked it? What's the highest setting for the memory vDimm in the BIOS for overclocking ram? What numbers are you getting with banchmarks like 3dMark05 and such?

I've only played a little bit with the overclocking. I have to read a bit more into it to be honest. I have an Opteron 144 currently running at 2ghz.
I got a 7095 with 3DMark05.
I literally only set it up last night, so give me a bit of time. :)

edit: just noticed ncix has free shipping. in this case no brainer - ncix is cheaper. and you probably get better customer service with ncix.
the free Quake 4 promotion is still active, however the evga website only mentions tigerdirect.com and ncix.ca .. i see no reason why td.ca would be excluded but doesn't hurt to ask.

how easy is it to setup?
is the non-standard backplate an issue? (or are you just using the stock HSF?)
i've been flip-flopping over whether to snap up this deal and i still cant decide. i also can decide on a straight amd64 or the x2.

I'm just using stock. Getting the HSF on was a little annoying. I have no dexterity though so YMMV.

If you have any doubts about this motherboard, take a look at some of the "reviews from the web" posted on the NCIX website:
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=15797&vpn=133-K8-NF41-AX&manufacture=eVGA
I've been using it over the weekend and it seems like a pretty solid board, it's actually the Jetway 939GT4-SLI. I've been running my 3200+ at 2.4 ghz (just until I get a better cooler than the stock one) and it's very stable.
I took a look in my bios and it seems the max vdimm is 3.25V.
You can read about some of the overclocking fun (and issues) that people have been having with this board in the hardforums:
www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=943238
(hardforums seems to be down right now, but there's lots of good info in that thread)
I've read that people have been having issues with the non-standard backplate when they want to use certain heatsinks.

Nice score. I'm also looking to get the combo to use on an Opteron 144 as well :) Keep me updated and let me know how hugh you can OC that sucker...

I've heard of people flashing this motherboard with a Jetway bios to get more options. Many people have said that this board is in fact manufactured by Jetway. Here's the JETWAY REVIEW (http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2506) to compare the two.

yep..i've scoured the net for all the reviews on this board and have been reading the forums on evga and ncix as well. it seems like a good board. the only issues i found were:
-nonstandard backplate (this one really confuses me. why would they move away from the ref. design?)
-picky memory compatibility
-possible incompatiblity with the Ultra133 ide controller board (this could be an issue for me)
-and of course you dont get all the goodies or features like pricier boards.
ryan: what memory and psu are you using?

The RAM is just cheap Samsung RAM from my old computer, which I suppose will probably limit the OC possibilities. I have an Antec 420W PS with the 24pin connector.

I'm thinking of ppicking up some Crucial PC4000 Ballistix memory and a OCZ Powerstream 520W to have plenty of power and for the future if I decide to buy an extra card for SLI.

Hardforum is back up :)
Someone in there mentioned that "Mushkin Redline needs 3.3+ to run ddr500 and up"
This board can only provide 3.25V.
Also people seem to be having problems running OCZ Platinum Rev 2 TCCD at 1T

Of course they'll do 2-2-2-6, because they require 3.1-3.3v. At that voltage, I think you can run any memory module at 2-2-2-6! LOL. I think Ballistix is the way to go. Right now Crucial has 2x512mb for $132 + $13 (2 days shipping) to Canada. If ya pump up the voltage like Mushkin I'm pretty sure you'll get good timings.

If you've bought this bundle from TD, you could also try sending in the $20USD rebate on their site: http://static.tigerdirect.ca/Rebates/E145-7808-Dec31.pdf
Not sure if it will work since it's for the 7800GT when bought alone, but it doesn't hurt to try.

for a non-sli setup 450W should be quite decent, however you do want to get a good brand.

They have a 565W Enermax with dual 12V rails, 20&24pin adapter, SLI ready for $105. That seems like a good deal to me. Or would the single rail OCZ Powerstream 520W for $150 be better?
The PSU of my dreams owuld be from PC Power & Cooling, their 510 Turbo-Deluxe. It costs $193US tho :-0 But it's the best PSU.
PSU seems to be the most critical component for system stability, so yeah, don't skimp out on that...

Wouldn't the Enermax I mentiuond a couple posts up be better for the price? I know OCZ is rock solid, but I also know Enermax is a known name brand for PSU's and has more power and is $50 less

If you look on DFISTREET you will see that the powerstream is highly recommended. If it runs well on the Ultra D that is well known for being fussy about power supplies you will not have any problems on other boards.

Well it is for my bro who nearly insists on using one of those PS that come with a case. I told him if he is going that route to at least get a decent company like Antec, but he picked out some fruity case (w/ green LEDs) with a 450w PS. That has me a bit worried.

well given that they're giving it away for 'free' (or you're paying $60 for it, depends on your viewpoint) i wouldn't expect it to sell for much. more importantly i wouldn't buy this just to flip it. i'ld buy it to build a value based system.
