Firefly TV Series DVD @ HMV $29.99

I saw the FIREFLY TV series on sale today at HMV in Coquitlam Centre (BC) for $29.99. This is (1) an amazing price and (2) an amazing TV series that lived a very short life due to some near-sighted network execs.

Most other stores (FutureShop, BestBuy, A&B Sound) are selling the set in the $45-$50 dollar range. Great savings!

This is such an amazing bunch of writing & acting that a buddy of mine offered to buy back anyone's Firefly DVD set if they didn't like it. No one has yet taken him up on his offer.

While we're on the topic, the TV-theatre followup movie "Serenity" DVD is due out this Tuesday (Dec 20/05)... Here are some recent prices I've found for that DVD (widescreen):

Today's FS flyer (valid Dec 18-22) shows the Serenity DVD price as $25.99. Even London Drugs is cheaper @ $24.99 (and yet their Firefly DVD's are $47.99).

For the Serenity DVD, one might consider taking Zeller's $24.87 flyer to FS/BB for a PM + 10%. Brings it down to $24.76.

I've managed to get an awesome deal from archambault on the Serenity DVD. They honoured an (erroneous) web price of $17.99 less 10% (VISA COUPON) for a total of $16.20 including free shipping. Also received word that it shipped TODAY!

HMV pulled a full-page colour ad in the National Post (p. A9 - Western Ed).The $29.99 Firefly DVD portion of the ad is about 5"x5". These "Deals of the Week" go from Dec 20-24. I guess the store mentioned in my original post jumped the gun a little.

More than 11 cents... $25.99 to 24.76 is a $1.41 savings after taxes. One also takes some delight in sticking it to FS/BB at every opportunity. ;)

I'd much rather shop at something that is either relatively Canadian-owned (like Zeller's or A&B Sound), or has some degree of sales ethics.

It was part of the Fox special. I'm sure you will remember. Every 1st season of fox series was 50% off. The Simpsons, Family guy, The Shield, Dark Angel, Angel, 24 Season 1, Firefly and some others.

This is by memory, but I actually got Family guy, 24 and The Shield in this sale.
I remember Firefly was in the same deal. It was Amazon.ca that started this, then Futureshop, HMV and Costco.

I picked up Firefly at the Dundas/Yonge location. They had tons for$29.99. I also got Elf for $9.99 and Trailer Park Boys Christmas for $14.99 :)

Sounds like it's OOS, you could get it for ~$28 by pricematching HMV's $30 price at Future Shop (saw it for $52 in-store at FS last night).
