and that was before the Gomery inquiry ... and most people think it is just going to get worse ... really makes you want to participate in this system.

An international group that tracks global graft says Canadians believe political parties are the most corrupt institution in the country
This is a rating based on perception, not actual findings, simply opinion.
There is a list somewhere where the actual transparency of the countries is rated. Canada rated pretty good, but there is room for improvement.

The same group does the "corruptions perception index" (http://www.transparency.org/content/download/2274/14262/file/TI%20Annual%20Report%202004.pdf) where Canada scored in the 12th spot ... but this, too, is a perception or opinion ...
The Corruption Perceptions Index is a poll of polls, reflecting
the perceptions of business people and country analysts,
both resident and non-resident. The 2004 index draws on 18
surveys provided to Transparency International between
2002 and 2004, conducted by 12 independent institutions.
The poll in my OP is strictly for the parliament and for the political parties. They fare massively worse that business, etc. We Canadian rate our politicians pretty close to the bottom of the sewer pit.

Problem is...perception IS reality

That's why people thinks they are all the same in terms of corruption. The only difference is if they are caught or not.

I was going to vote the Liberals (the coin toss flipped that way)..... until I saw both Buzz & Paul with the other one's brown on their noses in front of national TV. Now, I'm forced to vote that thing called Harper.
