I am leaving for 5 days home, and since I am leaving my room open and accessible. I have two friends living with me right now, and worry a little about the access to this room - a room that everyone passes through wich had two computers, stereo, TV, DVD, movies and other small gadgets.

I would like to place a camera (video/audio perhaps would be nice) in a corner of the room to keep a tab on the room to make sure no one is snooping and doing stuff to my stuff. I also really hate having people stay in my room while I am not away - and who knows, they may be bad mouthing me or so...

Anyways, yes - I am wondering whether there is any device that will allow me to keep video/audio, video, or just audio for this duration of 5 days. To save space or hard-drive or tapes, etc - I only need to have this device keep tabs durin 6 am to 12 midnight - when activity occurs around the place.

I am not able to have the computers run 24 hours for these 5 days. I would rather like something small that tapes to a hard-drive or something - quick and fast. I am leaving tonight, and need to set-up something fast and quick without the need to wire things and slap huge cameras, or who knows what. Even a small audio device that tapes activity around the desks with the computers would be enough.

Thank you.

Move out and get yourself some real friends.

Other than that, set up a webcam and focus on the door for the room. That way you know who was in there and exactly how long they were in there for. You may not know what they are doing, but you'll know if they leave with something they didn't come in with.

the web cam idea, how much memory would one require?? thats like 5 days of recording onto a hard drive...

that was going to be my suggestion, dont waste your time with the camera, just go out and buy a lock and put your most valuable things in a secret spot and make sure that u lock the room before u leave and have the key with u (make sure u hide the other key outside the room!!!

Some webcams have software that has a security setting or something where it will only record pictures or video when there is movement (picture is changing) don't know how well it works though. I suggest anything really valuable just bring it with you or lock it up somewhere.

Small gadgets pack them. Anything big "should" be okay i mean nobody is going to jack your TV i think...

get an eyetoy ..use the "spytoy" thing thats built in with it, audio and/or video takes a picture when movement is made, or records when sounds are heard
