I hate Ipods with a passion, but I may have found a deal too good to pass up.

This guy is selling an Ipod mini - 4 gig for $100, or $120 with a new battery (the stock battery is toast)

I have checked his feedback, and we have been talking, he seems legit. But heres the catch, He broke the connection between the click wheel and the board when he replaced the battery, and he doesnt know how to soldier, thats why he is selling it for so cheep.

This is what he said in his original post (not from these forums)
ok so i have a blue i pod mini 4gig and the bettery was done with. so i went and bought a brand new battery...well i replaces is and broke some connection. its between the click wheel and the board, so if anyone here knows how to solder this may be a good investment (i tried to learn to solder...it never worked and i don't wanna try on this or i may screw it up even more. the ipod is in great condition comes with headphones, wall charger, usb cable, something to hook it up to your car and a BRAND new battery that hasn't even been charged once. plus the old battery if you want

so, my question to all of you, is it re-solderable? i'm confident in my soldering skills, but I havnt got the equipment to micro-solder, nor could i repair a broken ribbon. I have no clue what the connection is made of, and the guy's pics are way to blurry for me to make anything out.

Advice?

Excellent used one for 200, one that neeeds repair you may or may not be able to do for 120. It's a no brainer. If it was so easy to fix I'm sure the guy could have done it himself. Look around here you can do better!

waste of time and money. save up some more pennies and buy one that works.

I wouldn't do it.

Just buy a functional one or call up Apple themselves and get an AppleCare plan for like 75 bucks. That's what I did.
