At EBgames, when they had the $20 per trade in game towards any new console and they added 30% to the total, I traded in 9 GBA games and 3 PS2 games (would have been about $80~$100 just store credit) and got this at $179.99.

I picked up the Mario Kart DS bundle last night at EB games. $179 price. My 5 and 7 year olds each played the game for about an hour, and I played for about an hour. Lots of fun -- includes courses from N64 and Gamecube tracks. No learning curve - same basic operation as previous Mario Kart games. Lots of fun.

For those who are interested, Animal Crossing DS sold 3 times more copies then Mario Kart DS did during it's first week out in Japan. Alot of people dismiss the game from it's name, but it's well worth checking out.

Nintendo is good with overstocking their games so it shouldn't be too hard to find a copy of it this holiday. I loved the original AC on the GameCube and can't wait for the DS one to come out. And no, it's not the same game. The same kinda style/engine but it's been totally reworked. Everything bad about the GameCube came has been changed so that the game is much better. The only thing I don't like is they took out traditional holidays (Christmas, Halloween, etc) and put in random Animal Crossing only events. So much for Toy Day..

There are several factors contributes to the low score u see on IGN/GameSpot. First is that DS is new platform, big tiles just don’t get released this fast, most of them are still under development.(how many good games were there when xbox first came out?). In fact, they are starting to release those big titles now, notably Mario Kart, Animal Farm Crossing. Secondly, there are many good DS games, but only available in Japan (developed by Japanese studios). American versions are usually few months delayed. But if u look at the releasing date on IGN, I am sure u will see many big titles.

It CAN be done. Bring some ID and you can refund it to Walmart for a store credit. FS does the same, but instead of the recent price, they look at their lowest sale price (including PM-ed prices) and give you that.

I just picked mine up from Malvern (about a dozen left at 9am) and get this! Obviously Animal Crossing wasn't in stock so they offered a raincheck to pick it up later, or to substitute for a game @ $45. Instead of going back (I'm probably going to pick up Animal Crossing later anyways), I substituted Advance Wars Dual Strike ($44.96 value).

So the cashier rang up the MKDS ($179.97) and the AWDS ($44.96) subtotal came out to $224.94 + tax = $258.69. THEN the subtracted the free game so my total was $258.69 - $44.96 = $213.72

Since I preordered with BB, I already knew that the DS w/tax was $207, so I asked why I was charged tax on the free/bonus item. I argued for 10 mins with 3 CSR's and they just kept telling me thats how it is? WTF? If it's advertised for $179.97, I should be paying that plus tax... why am I paying tax on something that's supposed to be free? Regardless, I paid the extra $6 and went on my way.

EDIT: ^^^ Yeah, they should not charge you tax on the free item. If, theoretically, Animal Crossing was in stock today and you wanted that, you'd only pay the 179.99 + tax. At my local Zellers, when people wanted to substitute, the game rang in at 0.00 right away, so they didn't pay any taxes on the 'free' game. You should go back and ***** more, but the gas may just blow your 6 bucks out the door.

Just got back from Zellers in Regina, SK.

They had about 10 copies of the system behind the counter and I think roughly 7 of them sold in the 30 minutes I was there (got there several minutes before closing).

Like what was mentioned before, obviously AC doesn't come till Tuesday, possibly Wed since we are in Canada :( , but they will do a raincheck on the item. They also have a list of several games they will substitute. At least at my Zellers, they would not substitute for any game of equal value. The list was:
- Kirby Canvas
- Advance Wars
- Pac-Pix
- Spiderman 2
- Wario Ware Touched

I believe that was all of them. This should be nation-wide so if you want this, go now! It may already be sold out where you are. Go quick, this is the hottest deal for the DS this holiday season!!

At the Zellers I went to (Conestoga Waterloo), the CSR offered the 10% HBC CC discount by applying it manually. They didn't care/know that it wasn't supposed to apply. I also got a raincheck for Animal Crossing instead of one of the other games.

It CAN be done. Bring some ID and you can refund it to Walmart for a store credit. FS does the same, but instead of the recent price, they look at their lowest sale price (including PM-ed prices) and give you that.

You have to go to the Customer Service department in Zellers or WalMart and if you don't have a receipt for it (as long as it's still sealed) they will give you a gift card worth the value of the game + taxes. You have to show them ID though like a drivers licence. Then you use the gift card to purchase the game(s) you wish to buy.

So I went back to Zellers to exchange the DS due to the dead pixel. Got it exchanged without an issue. I think it helped that the girl looked like she was from some other department, covering a break. She looked at the box for about 6-8 seconds before saying "ok" and getting a new one :cheesygri She didn't exchange the serial numbers through the computer and didn't even open the defective box when she gave me the new one :lol:

On a side note, my Zellers has a sign up saying there are limited quantities of Animal Crossing and no more raincheques are allowed. Glad I got in there first thing in the morning. Guess that's why they have 8-9 more bundles in the cabinet ;)

For those who missed this deal, look for other alternatives. I went to Superstore yesterday and bought the DS/Mario-Kart bundle for $180, added in a few needed groceries to get to $250 and then applied the $30 coupon.

Doing that, I brough my cost down to $150 for the bundle (as I need the groceries anyway) and if I really want Animal Crossing, I'll pay the $40 when it comes out (it'll be on sale for that by someone when it comes out). So, yeah, I would have paid $10 more than the Zellers deal but then I didn't have to deal with Zellers :lol:

Of course, if I don't want Animal Crossing, I'm better off with the Superstore deal.

Superstore has these coupns about every other week at this time of the year and they always seem to have them on the first week of the month troughout the year - so lots of opportunity to get one.

Say whatever you want. Another RFD'er in another thread who worked for Zellers said they were always told to accept anything for returns as long as it's on their inventory list whether it was bought at the store or not. The reason is they want to keep the customer in the store and giving them store credit does tend to do that ;) Just to be safe though I'd say you got it as a gift but don't have the receipts and you already have the games.

If it's a dead pixel (unlit/black), Nintendo will repair it under warranty. They're good like that; best ****ing support in the industry, though Microsoft is improving.




Stuck pixels (stuck on one color, usually red or white) though, you can usually 'massage' away. Grab a Qtip, and gently but firmly rub over the affected pixel. A good percentage of 'em can be fixed like this.





edit: BTW, is it just me, or do the rest of you find the shell colour of this particular DS really, really ugly? I mean, it's not attractive, AT ALL. Just plain friggin' puke red....

Can't say how AWESOME this Mario Kart is! Except for one minor problem. It's kinda hard when you have big hands. Tends to cramp a little bit. Anyone know of any type of solution? Did nintendo or any 3rd party develop a glove like thing to put over the ds in order to suit ppl with bigger hands? LOL! hahahha...sorry that just sounded funny but it's the truth.

I am not sure I mind as was very lightly touched but am nervous because it might have been returned to Kennedy/Vodden Brampton because of a dead pixel. Is there an easy way to identify them. Don't really know how to look on a DS (or any lcd for that matter). Any tips appreciated.

easiest way, just drop by and demand for a new package at zellers.
because if you got a returned one, dead pixel is only one of the problems they might've returned it....could be other problems, and I don't think it's worth your time to sit there and check one by one.

I own the PSP and don't have the DS but I must agree. The customer service style offered by Sony doesn't suit North America where refunds, returns are available usually with no questions asked. In most parts of asia, you bring an item back and ask for a refund, those people will laugh at you thinking it was a joke.

Don't think it's an error. Zellers is pretty hot with their portable console deals. Just last month they had the PSP value pack with a bonus ATV game at $269. But in order to connect to the internet, you need to pair the DS with a wireless router. AKA, if you have a wireless router, you are all set.

If you don't have a wireless router, and want to connect via internet to play with other people around the world, you would need to get a wifi card and plug that into a computer with internet access.

I don't know yet... it is still the weekend ;) ... Just like the TRU $14.99 deals for all PSP, DS, PS2, Xbox, GC. The price went back up in the afternoon on Monday. So the management are not in to react to the weekend until Monday when they find out their DS stock is gone because of the extra free game.

I think Zellers might be trying to clear out the portable consoles for some reason.

why though? It is Holiday time, highest sale of the season? I don't think Zellers need to push sales with a free game. Zellers could just offer their "Trade & Save" things.

I just bought the bundle. I had to argue with the lady because she didn't understand the promotion at all. This Zellers was offering another game to replace Animal Crossing because they didn't have it in stock (duh). So the girl thought the DS bundle was the console + Animal Crossing. She wouldn't give me the DS bundle (with Mario kart) + another game. So thank goodness a supervisor came by and told me that I was right. Anyway, I ended up getting Advance Wars Dual Strike instead of Animal Crossing which is fine by me because I would have preferred Advance Wars anyway :D Sweet deal!

edit: the Zellers I'm referring to is the one on Gerrard Square in Toronto. I don't remember the rest of the games they were offering to replace Animal Crossing but you can easily ask them over the phone (which is what I did..to first check if they have anymore in stock). They had quite a few left apparently no one in that neighbourhood knows about the deal or is interested in DS. Good for me!

Picked up XY: Feel the Magic used at EBGames this weekend. It's addictive. I love the parachute game with the calculator and the numbers you have to tap in.

The Bulls charging at you is pretty crazy too where you have to tap the screen. Definitely a game to justify the need for a screen protector.

It was 19.99 at EB Games (but I save on the shipping and having to wait if I bought it on eBay anyway) and there was another cartridge for 25.99 (maybe this was a brand new price?)

I called Hillcrest mall and Yorkgate mall (Finch & Jane) today at 2pm and at 6pm they say they don't have Animal Crossing in store. Actually I was at Yorkgate mall on Saturday @ 6pm and there were at least 10 bundle left. And the CSR was very nice, reserved the bundle for me for more than 4 hours so I have time to pick it up, their # is (416) 663-4230. But one bad thing is she told me I can go to Hillcrest to pick up the game but I called Hillcrest they say you have to go to where you got it to pick it up coz they had limited quantity. Anyways, will try and call again tomorrow.

And they didn't honour the 10% on electronics no matter what.

i called up zellers and inquired and they said within 30days you can exchange it if theres dead pixels...so i guess you can exchange even if you opend it already....and i asked are we allowed to open it in store to double check for dead pixels and she said yes...that way you can exchange again till you find one without a dead pixel

I think it's actually the same screen, so it should be the same. The GBASP got an upgrade at the same time as the micro came out. Either way, you're better off with a DS anyway, since you get the best of both worlds with the GBA and DS games, unless you have a whole pile of old GB(C) games that you have to play.

Just got back from Future Shop, managed to snag the last DS Mario Kart bundle + the last Animal Crossing - and did a successful price match (my first ever!) on the combo.

I got lucky too because the guy I asked was real cool - he went and called the Zellers to check their stock - and they did not have any of the items in stock, so I asked if he could go ahead with the PM anyway and he said yeah.

Haven't had time to post till now. Finals and all. I got the last one from Zellers in S'toon on Sat. Was super excited till I got home and found 3 dead/stuck pixels :mad: . Two on the touch screen and one on the top screen. I'm exchanging as soon as they get more stock, Hopefully tomorrow.

I got my DS Mario Kart / Animal Crossing bundle today, but it is meant as a gift for me for XMAS, so when I got it home I just gave it to my mom to wrap for me and put under the tree, without even thinking to check for dead pixles... :(

When I do check it on the 25th, I'll still have plenty of time to return it if there are any - but it would be pretty crappy if the bundle is no longer available by then.

alright, finally got Animal Crossing today. but they took away the original receipt did a "refund" then gave back a receipt charging tax on the "free" Animal Crossing game.

I'm not complaining because it's 6.10 for a 49 dollar game but it sounds a little weird to have tax charged on a "free' game.

just read a little further back and saw that's the case with others. anyways, whatever, it's Zellers and they are getting pounded by Wallymart as it is so I don't mind giving them my cash. They've had great deals before so *shrug*.

If you have a dead pixel, you will notice. Either from the white warning screen or the black logo screen. You would notice it quickly and it will drive you insane until you replace it :mad:

I bought the last DS from the Dixie/Dundas location, then thought everything was fine, but the red pixel near the middle of the top screen showed itself on the black as I loaded the game - like Rudolph, you just can't help but stare at the bright red light. Definitly distracting when you don't have anything on the top screen except for that pixel.

Picked up my copy of AC last night at Pointe-Claire (MTL). They did like you, refunded and then punched up a new sale. However, I did not have to pay taxes. I wanted another bundle but they had no more, so I asked for a raincheck. They said "no prob" but that they would not get anymore DS+MK bundles until after Xmas.

I then went to Walmart to PM. The clerk said they would except that they didn't have AC on their list of games yet and he couldn't give me an alternate game!

Then I got home and went through the flyers and the DS+MK bundle is going for $159.99 starting Saturday at Zellers. So I will probably go back to Zellers to get that raincheck.

found a pixel fixer for NDS, its like the pixel fixer for PSP or regular LCD screens

will flash red/blue/green till it gets it unstuck, u can check using a white/black background

i havent done it yet but in that thread, i think 1-2 ppl got it fixed

my sisters nds has one blue stuck at the top right edge

ps for those that didnt open it yet, u only got 30 days return and they will refund dead/stuck pixel units but if they dont have anymore in stock to exchange, u have to refund it all including animal crossing (or whatever game u got, unless thye did something funky with ur receipt, then free game for you)

I used a program for my psp that flashes a single pixel (you can move it around the screen to place it right on your stuck pixel) instead of flashing the whole screen. it didnt work. I still have one single stuck/dead pixel that fortunately only shows up on black and nothing else. Its not very noticeable at all.

you just got to rma it and if its under warranty, they give you the fedex/purolator info for pre-paid shipping

all you do it box it up and ship it out free and get it back within a week or 2

i called in to see if i can get one to exchange because of dead pixel, they said still no stock and just hold on to it till they have stock...its not a big deal since rma is free and takes 2 weeks from nintendo but doing over the counter at zellers is just faster (well assuming they have stock cause its xmas time and rma could be delayed by nintendo...but you can send it in anytime during the warranty period)

YMMV my reciept had no mention of animal crossing, I just went straight to Customer Services, the lady at the Billings Bridget Zellers (Ottawa) was extremely nice :)

I am in the same situation as you are in. I bought the bundle last saturday (dec 3) at 8am, definitely the first one in the store to get a raincheck, and still no Animal crossing game as of now. The thing that frustrates me the most is that everyday I call in they will say something like "oh we did have a few but it's all picked up by people with rainchecks already, and don't worry we will call you when it's in"

I don't understand why I am not the first one to be notified when the game becomes available. And when I went to the store yesterday the assoicate dared to say to me that "it's not available, we haven't received ANY at all yet" and "you can expect the game sometime before CHRISTMAS"!!!!

So is this just a fluke or totally YMMV? I have a raincheck for the $179 DS with AC and they called to say they have the Mario Kart red bundle in stock but they won't honour the bonus game. Zellers is always YMMV. I got a raincheck from one and none from another once. They even have different return policies.
