How are the Samsung DLPs compared to Sony LCD RPs? I've looked at both in different store and am having a hard time deciphering between the two. I used to think the Samsung's had the better picture quality, but am now thinking Sony's have gotten better (eg. KDFE50A10).

(1) Samsung's Canadian DLP's suck compared to the American ones. USA gets new tech, we get last year's leftover components.

(2) Toshiba DLP's seem to have better tech and better specs than Samsung.

Having said that, I'm considering getting the 46" or 50" samsung anyways, because it fits nicely for me.

Where can I get an up-to-date summary of the pros and cons of the various technologies (Plasma, LCD, DLP, etc.)?

One the differences between the Samsung and the Toshiba is that the Samsung has a longer warm-up period when you turn it on. So, if you are watching TV, turn it off by accident for anything more than 10 seconds, when you turn it back on you have to wait nearly a full minute before it turns on. The Toshiba has will turn on after only a few seconds. I know because I opted for the Toshiba.

Here's an excellent site to do your home work if you're looking for a HDTV.

If you're looking for a 56" Samsung, check out Costco. $2799.99 with a matching stand.

We purchased the 56" Samsung - back when the Brick had their Leather Sale.. buy 3 pieces, get a free tv.. for $1000 we upgraded to this TV.. We are really pleased with it - would recommend it! I agree with the other comment that it takes a while to warm up and bring the picture on.. but the pic is great! Good luck shopping!
