Hey everyone,

I'm trying to find decent desktop speakers to play back my computer-recorded music. I have come across these used for $115. Does anyone know if they're any good and if this is an ok price for used?

Sample Link: http://www.nextgenelectronics.com/almx5021.shtml

Thanks in advance for your comments/advice!

I would go for it. Altec Lansing is a brand synonymous with quality and crystal clear sound for the consumer market. There has been other threads comparing brands and anyone who's tried Altec would agree that if desire excellant sound quality and a good balance of treble/bass tones, then Altec Lansing is the way to go. Not pounding heavy on the base, and not weak on it either. Nicely balanced midlevels too. While I have never tried these speakers in question, the reviews do sound very promising, and you can't quite go wrong when it's THX certified either which is a nice bonus. Especially considering the price is $199 before taxes, $115 used does sound like a good deal provided that there is nothing wrong with them. I would ask to hear it in action first before committing to the deal, so you can check out for things like a blown speaker or sub. Good Luck!

Those are nice speakers, a while back (in the late summer months) OD was clearing out those speakers @ 80ish

so $115 (used) is not a bad price for those speakers (as long as they are in working condition)
