I am in the market for a new laptop, any make. I am looking for something under 1400CAD so if any1 out there has a laptop they are selling please post some pics of it and price wanted, or PM me.
Here is what I am basically looking for:
Screen - about 15'
Ram - 512 or 1gb
Processor - AMD athlon or Pentium 4
I need it for school, but also a desktop replacement so a machine that can run the latest games would be great.

With that kind of a budget you could buy NEW. Try dell to begin with...

I was reading the newspaper and I found this, a Dell Inspiron 6000, Click here to see it (http://www1.ca.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/jump_print_inspn2?c=ca&cs=CADHS1&l=en&s=dhs) , it has everything I need, but I was wondering if the graphics card upgrade is to a good card, because I am spending 200 to get it, is it able to handle the games and is 512 ram good enough also.
I will be using it for school, so typing, and when bored gaming.

You're going to have to fork out more cash on a laptop with a better video card if you want to play the latest games.

I will be using it for school, so typing, and when bored gaming.I have the same video chipset on my MSI mobo. I can play low res (800x600) Half Life 2 and Counter Strike Source at acceptable FPS. The WoW 10 day demo was fine, if you prefer that kinda gaming.
I tried the Call of Duty 2 demo and BF2 but they were like slideshows :( :(
You'll need more RAM too, I think.

Boxing day is only weeks away. Don't buy until then. Plus, in January there will still be a lot of sales when retailers are trying to combat the slowing post-Christmas spending by consumers.

The x300 isnt that great either. My 9600xt can beat it easily and umm my 9600xt isnt exactly stellar. Look for at minimum x600 (which is really 9600 core) if you really want to play games on your laptop. I personally dont game heavily (only emu's) on laptops, I cant, I use my PSP for that purpose. :)
The x300 has 64-bit DDR memory which is like what is used for CPU's, great for CPU's , bad for video cards. The x600 has 128-bit DDR memory, and the x700 I think has 256-bit.
