Hey all,
Im planning on getting my first laptop and noticed the Dell Inspiron 9300. If you know of any better deals / laptops at the price, please let me know. Also any experiences with this model would be appreciated..

Inspiron 9300
Intel® Pentium® M Processor 760 (2GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
Genuine Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005
17 inch Wide Screen XGA+ Display
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz 2 Dimm
256MB NVIDA® GeForce™ Go 6800
60GB 5400rpmHard Drive
Integrated 10/100 Network Card and Modem
8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200 Internal Wireless (802.11 b/g, 54Mbps)
9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery (80 WHr)
1Yr Ltd Warranty, 1Yr Mail-In Service, and 1Yr HW Warranty Support
Dell 720 Color Printer

All of this adds to $1261 US (after $750 US coupon) which comes to around $1475 CDN

Any comments? Anyone know how long battery would last min/max. Also, would anyone know the brand of RAM, HDD, DVD burner & LCD used? Know of better deals? This thing weighs almost 10 pounds but I think im to the task of lugging it around the university. I've also heard about the 'light leak' on the LCD but doesn't sound too bothersome.

Thanks for the help

bleh: just noticed a thread about this .. will check it out first :D

Damn Dell USA...that same laptop in Canada costs around $2500....

I have been looking to get the 9300 for a while too now. As far as I can tell the Samsung panel is the one you want to end up getting in yours. Check into the Dell XPS thread somewhere around here for some light discussion on it. Otherwise that setup is sweet. If you wanted a bit more improvement you could go with a 7200 RPM. HD is usually one of the bigger bottlenecks on a laptop...
