If you are in GTA then you should probably contact the store. I tried online to verify their stock at the Markham branch and it came back as sold out online. Good thing I went to the store to actually verify this.

At the point of purchase, the salesperson asked whether I would be willing to pay an additional $15 for a 2 year warranty on the printer. I am now wondering whether it was a bad idea to have turned it down? Also, is it possible to go back afterwards (I bought it on 25/11/2005) and purchase the extended warranty? If not, must I return the one I have and re-purchase it so that the extended warranty would be on the same invoice?

The walmart one would be better to get its the PSC 1410On the other hand, the PSC 1317 can (optionally) do 6-color photo printing and use 19ml/17ml/17ml black/color/photo cartridges. (It comes with 10ml/8ml black/color ones). The PSC 1401 will only work with 5ml/5ml black/color cartridges.

If you're not interested in high-quality photo printing and/or you refill your own ink cartridges, this may not matter.

You did the right thing for turning it down. Now don't look back. THe extended warranty is useless for printers (and many many other items). Printers are dirt cheap. The expensive part is the ink. Consider the printer disposable. This is how cheap printer is these days.

You can buy another AIO printers if this one breaks and will cost you less than buying brand new inks along. That is if you are not using 3rd party ink refill

The PSC 1401 at Wal-Mart does not seem to enable the connection to a digital camera on the front nor to media cards like other higher end models of the 1400 or end of the line 1300 series.

Yep, went by the Wal-Mart at Markville Mall in Markham, ON. They had 4 of them still in stock placed on the top shelf of the electronics dept. Took a look at it and there is indeed no PictBridge connection available. I guess that explains the $10 difference versus the 1315v at Best Buy.

Excellent. Thanks OP.. I had just bought this printer 13 days ago and I went back today, there were none on the shelves, there wasn't even the sign for it and its sold out online, but they give me a price adjustment anyway, no questions asked

Be prepared to return it shortly after using it.

Total and complete garbage with expensive ink.

Caveat Emptor.

You always have 30 days to go back and get the extended warranty. All you need is your receipt since it has the serial number on it.

I was browsing at Future Shop when I overheard a customer asking a salesperson whether he could buy the extended warrantly later on. He was told that it had to be at the point of purchase so that it would appear on the same receipt. I didn't hear the next part clearly, but I think the salesperson recommended this method so that customers won't lose any of the receipts if the warranty was purchased separately. Anyway, I'll inquire about it at BB as per your suggestion, jay_bionic. Thanks!

that's where you are partially wrong

with the service plan, you will be getting a BRAND NEW printer in retail box with ink. Which is cheaper than buying a new printer.

I work there so I know it works, so you will be paying roughly $15 everytime for a new printer with new ink and everything.

Since you work at BB, story, maybe you can comfirm whether I may or may not purchase the extended warranty separately. And if so, how much time do I have to do it after the purchase date of the item. Much appreciated.

You have to buy the service plan at the time you purchase the printer. However they also have a 14 day return policy on computer electronics. So up to 14 days after you buy and item you can always go to the store, return it, and buy it again with the service plan. They have no problem doing this.

Damn. Since I am by bus, this would mean that I have to repackage the printer and lug it all the way from Richmond Hill to Markham.
