You know how DVD-Rom's/Writers have read speed, 4x, 8x, 16x and so on...
How does it work for DVD-Players, do they all read at 4x? Is there a standard speed all dvd players run at?

I really don't know, so I'm asking..
(I'm not making an assumption or anything, I'm not sure if you're reply is to argue an assumption you might of thought I made)
Pretty much I'm trying to justify the margin of PI errors/failures which is ok for a backed-up DVD.

It is 1x. same goes for the home burners for recording tv and such. both 1x
now if you get into the HDD/DVD burners, you can record multiple channels at a time (But thats another topic in itself) :)
