Disposal of old computer equipment

Hey all,

I was just wondering what I can do if I want to get rid of some old computer hardware. and when I say old I mean OLD. Hardware as old as a P2 90mhz or something along the lines of an old 486 etc. Are there places that accept such old hardware where it could be recycled or something as opposed to throwing it in the dump?

Check with your local city. Eg. Here in Markham, there are depots that accept hazardous waste such as paint, batteries, and electronics. I don't think they can be recycled, but at least they'll be disposed of properly.

if you really can't find nybody call different schoo,ls, I know my highs chool department has TONS of old stuff and needed donations.

most larger cities do have somewhere to take it compared to a dump , where i usually take mine.

I think they sell real old junk so they'll probably take it.

Good thread, something I have been pondering for some of my older stuff..

Looks like some options in the various municipalities..

I was wondering about perhaps some kind of hardware swap forum or board, perhaps craigslist would have some takers if you had some stuff you just wanted to get rid of..

Anybody have any idea where someone can dispose of old computers in Victoria? My parents have heaps of them....and they are sitting in boxes, taking up space.....

they take anything
if they dont, just leave it by their entrance at night, some bum will come by and pick it up
