I have a lady (in her 80's) who got a computer and is working at learning the basics. I unfortunately don't have time to walk her through everything, so I'm wondering if anyone knows of a pdf, or java, .pps, whatever, downloadable type of manual, lessons, or tutorial to help her learn basic operation and word processing.

80+ lady trying to use a computer?

Is this for a company? There is no way this can be worthwhile for any company to do in terms of productivity.

If she is really that out of it she will probably need hours of the most basic training to get her caught up on Widnows basic use. Someone with no experience at that age won't just be fine sitting in front of a powerpoint slideshow.

maybe she just wants to surf the web... what's wrong with old ppl trying to learn? You seem to be discouraging that...

As for the manual.. get one of those "For Dummies" book.. got pictures and everything ;)

Shes actually doing Really Well! I told her the best thing is to put the hours in and it'll come, but things like saving documents are just out of grasp. Hence the need for some tutoring.

Theres a guy in town who was 78 when he started, got to where he did up his family history on the PC, scanning in old documents, the whole bit. Looked really good. Goes to show you're never too old.
