One-time charges upon startup: $19.99 shipping fee;
$39.99 activation fee (plus applicable taxes).
Disconnect fee of $49.99 (plus applicable taxes) may apply.

Maybe it is cheaper to buy the printer instead.

Do they only give the free multi-function when one signs up online, or can one buy it at a retailer such as Staples or BestBuy and still get the multi-function?

If you go buy the hardware at the store, you won't be charged the shipping or activation fees....as for the disconnect fee, I don't ever intend on disconnecting my Vonage....LOVE IT!!!!

And I am sure you can call and convince them to give you the printer...in fact I will be calling tomorrow!!!

I bought at Staples (with a $65 MIR) - and simply entered the code in on the link provided (thanks!). I don't really know if this will work or not - but I figured it was worth a shot...

I'm actually thinking of switching to Vonage.
Do they still have a deal on new activiations at any retail stores? You used to be able to get the hardware, plus a credit, and you came out about even.
Anybody know the most cost effective way to sign up for Vonage(not to interested in the printer)?

Has anyone found out about this yet?

I followed the link provided and signed up online, but purchased the adapter instore, I don't see any restrictions listed anywhere

Also entered the promo code for 2 free months, sweet!

As far as I know, the disconnect fee applies only if you don't ship the adaptor back to Vonage. The other charges can be avoided simply by purchasing in store.

I signed up for Vonage using the Brother promotion; however, I have not received any confirmation of the printer...

Is the promotion code for the two free months from here:
http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=191760
The coupon says that it expires 31 August 2005 though...

I looks like one has to pay the shipping back... Am I correct?
If so, then you would get $50 - ~$10 shipping back. I guess $40 for a VoIP adapter does not seem too bad. I have already unlocked it and it is working now. Need to try it with another VoIP provider. ;)

No...the promotional code is a new one they sent me via email early November.

mrken, when you signed up for the brother promo, did you have to order one of their adapters? I don't see an option to use a unit that is purchased instore - like the one you got from Staples ;)

At first, I thought the promotion had ended because I did not see the option for activating a retail adapter, and I had already bought the adapter. But I believe I went back to the home page and clicked the registration or activation link. Got to the screen of the MAC ID. Then I closed it and tried the link again. And it showed the retail activation page!

I just hope they send me the thing. I need a new scanner with an ADF. :D

Did the promotion code look somewhat like 150405DJF02 from this thread:

If so, the code may be reusable, as the replies have suggested. Perhaps you can share it with us so that we potentially save two months of fees. :D Thank you in advance! :)

What extra benifits do you get from an unlocked VoIP adapter?

You can use it with any VoIP provider you like. Sort of like an unlocked cellphone.

Thank you jyeung. The website accepted the code.

BTW, the coupon code is validated on the user's computer using Javascript... bad idea. :D

So, here are the "valid" codes:
010705TAS04
010705EDG05
060905MET09
250905TOT08
090905POL07
290805BDS06
080905ALB10
101205BRC11
101205FEB12
101205VEB13
101205ENB14
101205SWE15

Not sure what each one does, but they are "valid". :D

I'll have to keep trying.
With the retail activation option, the web page address ends with "index.htm?retailer="
With the Brother option, the web page address ends with "index.htm?refer_id=VC_BROTHER"

So you may have to choose one over the other.

Any confirmed use of the PAP2 with Primus TBB?

Oops..your VoIP provider must be SIP compliant. Primus TBB uses MGCP, so no. Any SIP provider that supports BYOD should let you use the PAP2.

If you really insist, you can probably setup an Asterisk box, have your PAP2 connected to that, and have a FXO card attached to your Primus TBB gateway. There's absolutely no point in doing this unless you want a powerful PBX sitting in your home :). There's no way you can get rid of the Primus gateway.

I get

index.htm?refer_id=VC_BROTHER&retailer=

when I try to activate retail after using the Brother link. Seems like they still take it into account.

jyeung, thanks for the info. Modifying the link per your method does seem to give both offers.

Still one hanging point: I spoke with three different CSRs, and read the Terms of Service - they all state a $39.99 activation fee, even if you buy the adapter at Retail.

There is no activation fee if you purchase in store, I signed up just last week

Funny thing was, when I got to the part where it asked which plan I wanted, it gave me the american plans ($24.99 for unlimited, $14.99 for 500mins) so I selected the unlimited naturally, credit card billed and paying approx $29 (after tax) for what should be the $39.99 plan :) Account page verifies it...

You're sure you're being billed in CDN and not USD right??

How did you input your province? The drop-down fields on the American page only inclues the American states...

I received my $65 mail in rebate just a few weeks ago around Nov 1st. It was submitted in the beginning of July, so it took 4 months (and keep in mind that was after a 90 day activation wait). Generally Staples rebates are faster than the rest so it could take longer if you purchased from FutureShop, etc.

As my credit card states I was charged the same - $29ish (don't know the cents off hand). But I figure, even if I was paying US$, the exchange is still cheaper than $39 CDN

I went thru the vonage.ca site, so everything is canadian, address filled out as canadian address etc - only weird thing was the plan selection page, when I login to my account and select to change Rate plan, the 3 canadian rates are listed - and it shows my current plan as "$24.99 Residential Premium Unlimited"

Perhaps there is a loophole that somebody can exploit? :D

I have a friend that signed up and somehow got put on the $14.99 per month 500 minute plan. I sent an email to Vonage and asked them why I was being charged $19.99, but never got a reply...

I did get reimbursed (twice!) for the $13.90 charge for keeping my current number and was also recently credited $39.98, which I assume is the two free months.

Definately a glitch somewhere!

If anyone else is about to sign-up, I purchased a PAP2 from staples, and used the link from this thread (free printer) to do the sign-up, be interesting if this happens for anyone else. I stopped and re-started my sign-up about 3 times, and all 3 times I got the same rate selections

The link still works, so the offer seems to be continuing, albeit with the exception for retail-purchased adapters.

Sorry for bumping the thread.

Did anybody take a screenshot of the promotion pages? I am still trying to get the Brother DCP-120C from Vonage. They are arguing that the offer only applies to online registrations, when clearly they had no such conditions in the offer pages.

Who received their Brother already?

Anyone know the best way to sign up for this printer deal? Should I sign up for Vonage's service thru the phone, or purchase from a retail store? It seems like some RFD members are having issues getting thir free printer. Could anyone please confrim...Thanks!
