OK folks do you guy think i should go for an Ipod or an Ipaq (I worked as an Ipaq tech support before so I'm more familiar with it but you can sub in the Palm or Axim for the sake of discussion)

I'm not a hard-core music guy, per se. Maybe a hundred songs here and there would be fine with me. What i need is appointments and contact lists and from doing research on the 'Net, i can sync the calendars and contacts from Microsoft Outlook into the Ipods (Do they have their own calendar and contact program like the Ipaq ?) Also maybe download some games off the Net and ability to install and read PDF e-book would be nice as well

Right now i am leaning more towards an Ipod, i think Ipaq's popularity seems to be on the decline, i just checked out FS's website and they only have 2 Ipaq models on sale, both of them in the lower-end of the chain...

Wi-fi and Bluetooth features are assets to me but not a requirement.

So Ipod or Ipaq folks ? let's hear what you have to say from the pro-Ipod and the pro-Ipaq camp...I'll be making the purchase for sure next week

Thanks!

ipaq will kill ipods anyday.. compare feature to feature.. ipod is just music.. and for conspicuous consumption..

Quote for today: (saw this somewhere)

people spend money they don't have
to buy things they don't want
to impress others they don't like.

Managing contacts and a calander on an iPod isn't easy. Get a PDA.

PDA for sure. I use mine daily, and just use it for my mp3 payer.

LOL, the Ipod has a tiny screen and has almost no features at all besides being a music organizer and player. It's applications are just gimmicks and controlling them is nearly impossible.

I don't even know how you can compare a full-fledged PDA running Windows CE with a portable-harddrive that can play music.

That's my concern right there...Like i said from doing research on the 'Net, i found ways to get it done but it's not as straight-forward and user-friendly as the Ipaq...

so ? for the pro-Ipod camp...why you guys don't go for the PDA which has more features and can also play music to boot as well..is it the look, the peer pressure or just because you guys haven't done the proper homework ?

Besides the obvious that some people have no use a PIM function and all the frills of a PDA, the iPod does have an advantage thanks to its large storage space. Unless you get an expansion card, the mp3 storage on an iPaq is miniscule. However, dollars-for-dollars, the iPaq is a much better value. Those iPods will drop in popularity soon enough, just give it time. Remember when Palms were the cool things to have?

PDA will suit your needs better. Have you looked at the K-jam or Jasjar?

go for iPaq!

iPaq can probably covers iPod Video's feature too.
