how the #@$^% do I connect my Xbox to the net??!!!

I've tried the large tutorial on xbox-scene and the links posted in the thread and have NO LUCK! why is this rocket science? I've somewhat tech savvy, I should have been able to succees after 6 hours!!!!!

I'm trying to get it going through my router, directly to the net.

Is it modded?
Are you using a crossover cable?
Check your settings, in Evox.
