I got a question regarding to compatibility of motherboard and ram. I am currently using a Asus P4S8X-X motherboard with a PC 2700 DDR333 512MB ram. I bought a PC 3200 DDR400 512MB ram from RFD and want to upgrade my system to 1G of ram, but when I check the motherboard manual, it says it only supports up to PC 2700 :( Any suggestion?

The PC3200 will downclock to PC2700 to match your other stick.

Do I just close the computer, unplug the cord, open up the case, and just stick the RAM in?

Just make sure you turn off your computer - you really don't need to unplug it, but proper hardware etiquette says you should and it wouldn't hurt.... but anyway, if you don't know how to install ram, just line up the hole on the ram to the line on the dimm slot. it will snap right in with a bit of a push - just don't force it. Refer to the bottom in this link for a pic of installing sdram: http://freepctech.com/pc/001/005.shtml

turn off computer, turn off power supply, DO NOT UNPLUG IT
if you unplug it, you lose the grounding capability, i dunno what kind of hardware site would advise you to do that

You forgot to mention to push the power button after you turn off the power supply to drain the caps.
