I am going to be building a PC very soon and here are the components Im thinking of getting. Any thoughts for different components are welcome. I plan on overclocking the CPU from 2.2 to 2.4 or 2.5. I also didnt go with the 7700 or XP120 for the heatsink because I dont want it blocking slots.

Also let me know if you have seen cheaper prices (As of Oct 28/05).

Thanks!

The XP120 doesn't block any slots?

Buy a Seasonic PSU instead

My first thought is that the ratio of CPU$:Everything Else$ is too high. I'm not "in the know" right now as to when the last/next CPU price drop is for AMD, but I would rather save $200 and get the X2 3800.

What are you using the PC for?

XP 120 with DFI LANPARTY UT nF4:
The first of PCI-e slots will be blocked by the heat pipe loop and the over-hanging fins will be in the way of the memory modules if they have the heat spreader/sink installed.

I read good things about Seasonic PSUs, but I bought probably 15 Enermax PSU in my life and I never had a problem with any of them so Im going with what works for me.

Actually AMD just had a CPU price drop and the price reflects it. It was over $600 for the longest time. I was considering the 3800 but I decided that I want the 1MB cache vs the 512K on the 3800.

The PC will be used for a number of games with is why I have the 7800GTX.
But I also do mp3 encoding and re-encoding DVD to mp4 for my PSP which are multi threaded appz, so I could take advantage of the dual cores right away.

RAID 0 is just asking for trouble. Get an extra drive and do RAID5 if you need RAID
