Hey,

I just found out that Im going to need braces. And was wondering if anyone

has an excellent dentist as a referral. I live near Yonge and Steeles so any

where near my area would be great. If you can share your experience I'd

appreciate it too. Also if there are any recommendations on types of braces

and some things to avoid Let me know.

Thanks.

I just had braces on in august...i had pain the first week, and the next 3 weeks my teeth were VERY sensitive to food because of the shifting...

after one month i was able to chew and not look like this: >:(

now everytime i have gotten my braces tightened, i can no longer have that super sensitivity feeling i had during my first month...i can eat MEAT again! :D

as for caring for it: i know i should floss but i have no time (or dont make time) BUT i do brush my teeth everytime after i eat (except when i'm not home) and when i do brush, i do it at least twice

good luck and it's not as scary as most people say it is!

Shop Around! You do not want a dentist, you want an orthodontist. Most, if not all orthodontist offer free consultations. From previos discussions here there can be a vast difference in prices from orthodontist to orthodontist. When our daughter needed hers we went to 4 different orthodontists. The difference in prices was over $2k. We didn't go with the cheapest we went with the one we who got the most good references from friends, family and other kids parents at school.

Agreed. you want one that will accomodate your needs and such. i like my ortho cause she actually takes the time to come in during saturdays (her office is only mon-fri) because she understands that i'm uni and i don't have time to come in during the weekdays!

someone very personable, friendly and who truly wants you to be satisfied with the results of your brace treatment - that's a good ortho, imo. :cheesygri

if you shop around you'll be able to tell just by their personality if they really care or they just want your money

Check out

Perry M. Lui
4350 Steeles Avenue East
Markham, Ontario
(905) 946-8028
Market Village Mall

I remember when I first got mine done there which was like a couple years ago, it felt like crap the first week or so.. then I got used to it. Flossing was reccomended but I only did it like once a week or so, just too lazy to do it.

Dr. Perry Lui is a nice guy overall he performed the whole procedure which was painless as I remember.

im at kingsway orthodontics on kingsway (few blocks from royal york station)

they're nice, and i hate my braces. but they know that, and so dont push me.

i think the site is www.kingswayortho.com

nothing to complane about. they can usually schedule me around school and work too so it's good.
