So I picked up a used ipod mini of a member on this site, in great condition.
But i'm only getting barely 4 hours of continuous play, with no EQ on, or backlight on.
Is this normal?
Thanks

And what do you consider a 'real' mp3 player?

Have you tried totally draining the batteries? Sometimes the battery icon says empty but it can play on after that. I found that after a while, my battery life shortened to about 4-5 hours and I just let it drain for a whole day. I came back, charged it and I got a full 7-8 hours on it the next time. I don't know why, works wonders.

Futureshop has Ipod Mini replacement batteries for $30. My friends Mini battery went dead just over a year of usage, he wasnt happy. Has a nano now, but the lcd is all scratched up.

Wow the nano screens are that sensitive eh?
Why isn't everyone buying protective cases/lenses for those puppies?

He bought it the first day it came available so he didnt know that was a issue. He use to keep it in his pocket like his mini and before you know it, its all scratched up.
I should tell him to join the class action.
Get big money like my $8 from Paypal.

Depending on how old it is, I'd start with calling Apple. Heck, call them anyways. who knows, they may cover the battery for you.

Oh yeah, call the Apple store in Yorkdale mall to see what they can do. My friend had the option of doing a battery replacement or a full replacement. I cant remember the prices for each, but since the mini is discontinued, u might be able to swing a deal.

i got my ipod a year and half ago, and im still under their applecare protection plan until this coming summer...
my batteries are in similar situation of about 4 hours of play (with iTrip) and probably 5 to 6 hours without, although doubtful.
Would i be eligible to send it back and have them replace the batteries?
thanks!
